flowerpetalMemberAre we supposed to get an accompanying wind storm to the snow? Is it to arrive seperately from the snow fall?
“Who has seen the wind? Only you and I. For when the trees bow down their heads, the wind is passing by.”

TrickParticipantAround 3pm I was heading east on I-90 and just as I passed Hwy 18, it began blowing like crazy.

wundrgrrrlParticipantAnd the high winds weren’t even expected until after 6pm in Seattle from what I recall. Just heard on a new release, that winds will peak around 1am.

flowerpetalMemberThanks Trick and Wundergrrrrl. Fakeface, wish I could believe your take on it.
1:00 a.m. Methinks I will need a nightcap (in a glass, not on my head).

AnonymousInactiveHigh wind warnings were for the cascade foothills. Our forecast is 20-30 mph.

Here’s the word from Cliff:
“5 PM Update
It is clear that the snow moved in in a few hours early…not an unusual timing error. A larger error is the easterly winds–which are substantially weaker than forecast by the high resolution models. They have picked up and will pick up further…but if they are weaker than expected that will increase the snow east of the Sound (since there will be less downsloping)….cliff “
This is a bullet I don’t mind dodging!!!

WSBKeymasterThe NWS calls for a directional switch after midnight. But some east areas apparently are seeing wind (North Bend etc.) Happens that way sometimes.

rykriteMemberI suspect that right now you know where the wind is. But in case you’re out of town at the moment, I’ll tell you: it’s at my house in West Seattle (just south of the Junction). The trees are in constant motion, and I hear frequent whooshing of gusts against the house. Very cozy on the inside, but I feel awfully sorry for any poor souls outdoors right now.

WesCAddleMemberfakeface…. I think you need to get a refund on that meteorology degree.
Just got back from the Junction and it’s rockin out there. At least the bars are all open.
