A tree cutting company is in my neighbourhood cutting down trees today. At first, they trimmed trees which were blocking a street light (trees are in a greenbelt). Now, they are trimming trees that are sort of too close to power lines, but are on private property. Does the City bill the homeowner for this service? Or has the homeowner received free tree cutting services?

This page doesn’t mention the cost of it, but there is contact info of a department that may be able to answer your questions, assuming it’s under this program that the tree is being cut. http://www.seattle.gov/light/vegetation/treetrim.asp

I got a notice a few years ago about a tree on my property the city wanted to cut down (power line interference). I called the number on the notice and two weeks later a subcontractor crew took down the tree. No cost to me.

Kimberly, what company is it? Are they still working there? I’d love to get the chips.

They’re long gone KatherineL, but the Seattle City Light website (and the number I ended up calling (206) 386-1663) mentioned that you can request chips from them.

Do you know about the website Chip Drop? I’ve yet to use them, but sounds like it could be a good set up if you’re looking for chips. http://www.chipdrop.in/login/
