PangolinPieParticipantRight, I forgot about Westwood! Being close to a Target and Bloodbath & Beyond and a bookstore and that nifty pizza place and a liquor store and Pier One and QFC Marshall’s and…on and on. I really don’t have to leave the area to get just about anything I need. And there’s parking!

Betty TMemberIn a small committee meeting in my building today we were asked “Do you feel safe here? I do and others too I just don’t go out on foot after dark. I wouldn’t no matter where I lived now days., being a senior citizen. Daytime? I’ve done a lot of walking since I’ve moved her 7 years ago to revitalized High Point. Calling it “the projects” I feel is derogatory. We have rentals and we have private owned homes. Our park, green spaces and yards are well kept. As to racisism, we have about 14 countries represented in our building. I find it interesting. I was on a neighborhood committe for 6 yrs at our Neighborhood House with a wide variety of nationalities represented from our neigborhood. Our crime rate we’ve been told by local officers, is less than other areas. Our Highpoint is a beautiful neighborhood to walk through. Anywhere one walks these days one needs to pay attention. Crime happens all over Seattle.
Pagliaci probably won’t deliver here either. We do just fine with Poppa Murphys on Movie Night.
I didn’t experience mixed ethnicity until I entered high school.Made a few friends that my parents told me was fine but”don’t bring them home with you”. I went to lunch and shopping the other day with 2 friends. One Cajun(she says she’s black) and the other American Indian. The friends I had before I moved here would never live where I live or share time with those I do.I now live an entirely different life and am happy with it. I’ve met many good people since coming here. Some through this blog who help me with my volunteer lunch for Nickelsville every Saturday. There are many animal loving, caring people here. Let’s forget that mean old pizza place.
