KellyParticipantAnybody know what is up with Chuck and Sally’s on Graham and California??? They have been closed forever.

JanSParticipantAnd I understand they will be closed forever until someone else acquires the property…

WSBKeymasterGoing on 2 years now.

Way back then, we tried to talk to the property owner to find out exactly what happened, but he ended the conversation when he realized we were reporters trying to research a news story. Morgan Junction’s had a lot of upgrades since then, so maybe it will be more attractive soon for something to be done with that parcel. The work/live/etc. project across Graham (where the buildings were demolished a few months ago) is awaiting market improvement too, at last report.

cy10MemberThanks for posting this. I had been wondering about Chuck & Sally’s for a while now. Is the property for sale?
July 12, 2009 at 5:21 pm #671312
WSBKeymasterHas not been listed at any time since it closed. I check commercial real-estate listings (and business-for-sale listings) for West Seattle at least once weekly since we report on notable listings/sales here and have never seen it turn up.

CMParticipantI ran into the owner a couple months ago and he had some song and dance about selling it to a “friend” who was going to turn it into a wine bar to fit in better with the neighborhood.
Truth be told, he let the building deteriorate so badly, it’s probably a write-off. The subfloor under the whole bar/cooler/”kitchen” is rotten and the place was crawling with termites even before it closed.

PlaneGuyMember~I was told that the owner of the facility is a realtor, and that he is holding onto the place as long as possible until the “right” offer comes in.
July 13, 2009 at 6:10 pm #671315
WSBKeymasterYes, the owner is a realtor who has owned the site for more than 21 years. Public record for the parcel:
http://www5.kingcounty.gov/kcgisreports/property_report.aspx?PIN=7625704265
You can find these records for any site in King County by using the Parcel Viewer:
http://www.kingcounty.gov/operations/gis/propresearch/parcelviewer.aspx
Click on “property report” and it brings up a page like the one above. Always fun to look at your own home and see how it’s dispassionately listed in terms of size, valuation, ownership history if you haven’t owned it that long, etc.

B-squaredParticipantGreat – we get to look at that eyesore until the market improves. while he lives in a million+ home with a view. nice. thanks. At least it used to be a functional eyesore. how about leveling it so that it matches it’s neighbor.

I’m sure that anyone interested could make an offer on the property.

JimmyGMemberIt’s been much harder to score meth in that neighborhood since Chuck & Sally’s shut down.
July 14, 2009 at 6:18 am #671319
celeste17ParticipantAh Jimmy, now you have destroyed my rose viewed glasses. And here I thought we didn’t have a meth problem in WS. :)
July 20, 2009 at 6:24 am #671320
commonsenseMemberDidn’t the city shut down Chuck and Sally’s? A neighbors son committed suicide after buying some meth there, within 2-3 weeks it was closed. Cops were watching the place.
July 20, 2009 at 11:35 am #671321
WSBKeymasterThere was no city action listed on the property records aside from some parking complaints after the closure.

JanSParticipantThanks, TR. The place might be an eyesore, but there’s no need to spread rumors that may not be true., huh….

JiggersMemberreply to post11. They all go to the Corner Pocket to get their heavy drugs.

KenParticipantJust a side note on parcel view.
I was looking at houses in my neighborhood trying to figure out which had recently sold (so I could register the newbies to vote) and I spotted a long time neighbor whose lot was listed the same size as ours. I know theirs is a single lot so I let them know. It turns out they have been paying taxes on a double lot for decades and the city owes them money.
So check your own details since what you see there is what you pay taxes on.

commonsenseMemberJanS – Settle down there… The part before the (?) was indeed a question. Everything after that is indeed true. What, do you want to talk to the poor guys father to conferm it? Stuff like this happens around here open your eyes.
July 20, 2009 at 11:59 pm #671326
JanSParticipantOY, CS…yes, I’m well aware that these things do happen…but I think we all need to err on the side of giving the benefit of the doubt. There is no citation by the city for closing the place down for the reason you gave. So, please, if you have proof, then state it..otherwise it’s just gossip, isn’t it?
July 21, 2009 at 12:15 am #671327
commonsenseMemberJanS – Lighten up girl, re-read my posts, no gossip.
