And note, this is a reopened post from 2+ months ago … things (and tastes) seem to change dramatically … someone could probably start this topic all over again and get an entirely different set of suggestions!

if i feel like going to elliot bay brew pub.. i go to Burien where the menu and service justify the trek.

Fresh Bistro is just not impressive, imo. I’ve had some good dishes, but I’ve had just as many mediocre dishes and the service is DREADFUL. Good drinks though and good wine list. I like Jak’s, Spring Hill, Lee’s Asian, Ephesus, the little Greek place whose name I can never remember…. Royal India, Cactus, and many of the awesome pho places in White Center.

    Jak’s = best burger

Circa = best little get-together with great beer and super food! I’m not sure why I don’t go here more often!

Royal India = best chicken tikka masala ever!

LaRustica = Best atmosphere, and gnocchi to die for!

the problem is that this is all so subjective..

is the best burger.. the best burger

or the best burger in the best atmosphere?

what makes for the best atmosphere?

does value for your dollar enter into the equation

or is service more important to you?

    for value for your dollar

i don’t think you can beat Zippys

    but i have to confess

i have never been in Jaks

    i haven’t been tempted

    I have been in Circa..

and i don’t know why i don’t go there more often

    but i don’t

Maharaja might be the best Indian in West Seattle

but it didn’t impress me enough to want to use their coupons..

    and we love Indian food

LaRustica’s atmosphere might be wonderful on a lazy weeknight.. but sharing intimately with the people at the next table isn’t my idea of great atmosphere and the food wasn’t impressive enough to make me want to go back…

Ephesus on the other hand.. gets my vote and my dollar every time.. for the atmosphere and appetizers alone…

fresh Bistro is another of those places that we liked a lot..

but we haven’t been back much…

and we do eat out more than we should

some days i just don’t have the energy to cook

so maybe our choices are based more on a good meal

    that i couldn’t fix myself

    than on a night out…

as i said, it all depends on what you are looking for

i tried to edit my post

but it’s not taking for some reason

    Royal Indian buffet is good

Maharaja is the Indian restaurant we weren’t impressed enough with to go back

ok.. this glitch is beginning to bug me…

    now the post is corrected…

    AARGH!!!!!!!

Have to agree, I’ve been to Maharaja once….but I keep going back to Royal India. BUT, I will give Maharaja another try!

It must have been a perfect storm for LaRustica for us. A small table for two….a great host…..great food. Still alot of hustle and bustle, a little noisy, but all the noise was from people having a great time, non-intrusive.

I like the maharajah because they will bring the food to me (lazy points), but if I’m going to california royal india is my preferred choice.

I just went to Fresh Bistro (across from the Jefferson Square Safeway) and it was the best meal I’ve had in Seattle. The meats were perfectly cooked but what was unique was that the produce was heavenly! So many high end restaurants skimp on the greens and use them as a garnish. I haven’t enjoyed a meal so much since I visited the Bernadin in New York last year.

Yes, Le Bernardin offers an amazing dining experience. If only Eric Ripert would decide to open up a restaurant here. Now THAT would be worthy of proclaiming as a “best” in West Seattle.

Love Zippys. Glad we live close by.

SpringHill is great- if a touch pricey- but super delicious!

Buddha Ruksa is also fun for thai

    Liked Kokoras for take out.

Circa was great- food and service. best pub fare I think I’ve ever had (save for Quinn’s on Cap HIll)

Azuma Sushi: tasty ramen and fun service

I loved AmaAma, too. I’m scared of table 35 now.

Looking forward to trying Fresh Bistro, now, as well as the Tin Room.

i would love a list of places in west seattle that deliver. only ones that deliver themselves and not through a service. anyone know if there’s one out there.

We are so lucky to live in WS where there’s such a variety of restaurants to choose from! Some of my favs: Fresh Bistro, Cactus, Lee’s Asian, Siam Pura, Circa, La Rustica, Mashiko, pizza from Bakery Nouveau. And I can’t wait to try Phoenecia again when it reopens. So many good memories of meals there.
