RainyDay1235MemberI’m wondering if I have a right to be annoyed here. I’m sure you will all set me straight! ;)
I have had the same work-truck parked in front of my house for over a week now. If it was just generally in front I wouldn’t mind – but it’s directly in front, so it’s always in view. And it blocks my walking path (that I put in myself).
Now, I myself don’t use this spot very much as I normally have to park in BACK of my house (apparently if I leave out the front my dog thinks I am playing in the yard without her and freaks out).
So, no – I don’t NEED the space myself. And I really don’t mind if others use it – heck, we get players from the soccer teams parking on our street all the time. But for some reason it bothers me that someone else had adopted it full-time.
Am I being too Seinfeld-ian about this?

RSMemberDoes the truck move or has it been there without moving for a full week? If it hasn’t moved there are rules about that and you can complain to the police/city if it sits there for too long.
But if it moves, doesn’t block your driveway, and is on a public street you just have to deal with it. Welcome to living in a city.

flowerpetalMemberI’m betting that the truck you are referring to is an old brown Chevy with a cover over the bed. And I’m thinking you live my neighborhood on a numbered street near Westwood.
If so, this truck has been a topic here and only gets moved when it gets reported to the City as an abandoned vehicle (any vehicle in the same place for more than 3 days).

KenParticipantre: ‘common courtesy’ in parking.
As my grandmother used to say, T’ain’t none.
If it moves every 72 hours, nothing you can do.
If it doesn’t and it is within the city limits,

RainyDay1235MemberNope, not the same truck or neighborhood. It’s not abandoned and belongs to a neighbor. During the time *we* are home it has not moved at all.
Thanks for the links. The most I would want to do is put a note on it, but I really don’t want to p*ss anyone off either….

flowerpetalMemberThis is one of those times that I’m happy to be wrong. I hope you have some kind of neighborly relationship with the truck owner and can have a frank talk with him/her. I wouldn’t want to p*ss off my neighbors either.

mellaw6565MemberI have to give a rave to my neighbors – they are all very respectful about parking in front of their own houses or behind their places. It would irritate me also if a neighbor continually parked in front of my house, but I would definitely say something to them first, and if that doesn’t work, then the law says any vehicle in the same place for more than 72 hours without being moved can be reported as abandoned (even if you know the owner).
Good Luck – My guess is that your neighbor will probably be receptive and move it for you.
