I was wondering the name of those apartments and if anyone here lived in them.

I just wanted to know how much they rock and roll during a storm. Drove by there yesterday and thought about it.

    Thanks

I can’t remember the name of the complex, but they’re condos – there are two for sale now, Todd, go for it! ;)

I think the building you are talking about is Harbor West that is actually over the water on pilings.

I have been in one of the units several times, they are somewhat dated, but that would vary unit to unit as they are condos as stated above.

I have never felt any movement, but have not been in it when there were any huge storms either.

    Really?

We lived right across Beach Drive from there, condo rental, for the first two years we were in West Seattle (1991-1993) … while the sad little minimart was still on the spot that’s now Cormorant Cove Park. (Had to buy emergency cat food once, still remember the dust on the can …)

Didn’t know about the Harbor West pool … TR

I remember the pilings were either replaced or reinforced a few years ago (only because I would run by there often, not because I’ve been in the building). Hopefully that means there would be no movement during a big storm, although that area gets pounded by wind so who knows.

The listings show outdoor pool, sauna, and new pilings in 2005.

I was just wondering. I dont think I need a new place to live, unless I have done something to make the wife mad again. :)

Kind of a childhood fantasy of what a 70’s bachelor pad would be like. Being able to fish off your own porch, lots of maritime, sea nick-nacks, and a “skipper” style hat with white pants and a navy blue polo shirt.

This comes from a realtor, so you can take it with a grain of salt but she mentioned that the pilings were recently replaced due to (minor) damage from the 2001 quake, and they were upgraded in the process. I believe she also mentioned they put in a new roof, etc. so while the place is dated, supposedly they have decent finances and no huge ($$) projects coming up.

Does anyone know how much they run a month or are they only for sale?

They are condos only, I am not sure if they have the option to rent them out or not.

I had some friends who lived there for a while in the 60’s. They didn’t mention any abnormal movement during storms, but they did talk about the management having to keep logs from damaging the pilings during storms with pikes. They were renting at the time while between houses.

While they were there a small fire occured in an apartment on the 2nd floor. When they saw that the fire department had to string their hoses down the hallways because they had no other access, they decided to terminate their stay.

Some are rented or subletted, but most own. I live a few doors down on the same side of the road and I know my house really rocks and shakes something fierce in a windstorm or if the water is rough.

There are several there for sale and I think they average about 400,000 with 300.00 monthly dues.
