The West Seattle Tool Library is a community-led project to provide pay-what-you-can community access to a wide range of tools, training, and relevant advice. By providing a low-cost, green alternative to individual tool ownership, the West Seattle Tool Library aims to inspire its community to pursue sustainability and participate in community projects. The West Seattle Tool Library is housed at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center.
The West Seattle Tool Library is looking for an assistant. This is a part-time position for a tool-savvy, community-minded individual. The Tool Library is currently open Tues – Thurs from 5pm to 8pm, and on Sat and Sun from 11am – 4pm. This position will require both evening and weekend hours.
The Tool Library Assistant will be responsible for:
– Maintaining the Tool Library’s tool collection and online inventory,
-Tool library general operations during open hours
-Monitoring and following-up on delinquent loans;
-Processing Tool Library donations (tools and cash);
-Monitoring the general performance of Library operations and suggesting improvements where needed;
-Knowledge of tools, tool repair, basic construction & repair techniques
-Ability to work closely with a variety of volunteers and community organizations
-Excellent communication skills
-Ability to lift 50 lbs.
-Self Motivated and Self-Directed
Hours: 10+ hrs./wk.
Salary: $15hr or DOE
