Chris FMemberCan someone tell me which agency to contact regarding the project that will be starting on Beach Drive? They’ve moved trailers and generators into the yard at the treatment plant – for a year’s long project – and the sound of the generator is already making me crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

wakefloodParticipantI’d start with Seattle Public Utilities, which might be the project owner. They likely have a hotline/message number where you can lodge a complaint – I’d make sure I know the name of the project specifically so you can refer to it. It should be posted someplace public on site.
After about 17 messages, you’ll get the public-facing person to call you back to say they’ve A) Notified the Contractor. B)They’re looking into it. C) They’re doing the best they can to minimize the noise. And finally, D)You should buy some earplugs.
This would be my expectation based on other projects. Hopefully, you’ll have a more positive interaction.

Chris FMemberPUD said “not our project – try King County.” Gee thanks. I’ve sent a note to the general KC email, but think it’s unlikely I’ll hear back – I will continue trying :) Thanks for your input!

wakefloodParticipantYeah, that sounds about right. Is there still a big project placard on the fence someplace? That would indicate the project owner – which could very well be KC Metro.
If you don’t hear anything back soon, I’d try to track down a project info number. That or the individual email box might also be on the placard.
Either way, good luck!

WSBKeymasterMetro doesn’t handle wastewater, hasn’t for a long time.
Where on Beach Drive? They’ve of course had the large one by Lowman Beach going for many months and then there was a small one by Beach and 61st but I have no formal notification of anything else and we generally get all that info as a news publication – TR

Chris FMemberThis is at the south end of Constellation Beach – got a letter last summer about a project that would take a year and a half – guess they’ve decided to start moving in equipment to start. Have not seen signage . . . the spot with the equipment is the run off treatment plant on beach drive.

WSBKeymasterI’m asking the media person at KC Wastewater Treatment Division. Can’t find anything online, which is really uncharacteristic – the projects on this end of the system (south WS) had years of advance planning/discussion and massive quantities of online info.

Chris FMemberWe received a letter quite awhile ago – it’s where the big cap is at the very south end of Constellation beach – I thought I’d kept a copy, but not finding it. We were surprised by the 18 month prediction of the length of the project. Had actually thought they’d cancelled because it had been so long. Sub that dropped off the trailer said today the treatment plant site would be the staging area for the project – no start date that I know of. Thanks for your help!

Chris FMemberGot a very nice response to my email to KC – they’re working on the pump station at 63rd & Beach Drive, and yes it will take a year and a half. They are using the treatment plant property as a staging area, as we’d been told. She assured me that they would take power from the station and not use a generator. Hopefully, this project will not be terribly disruptive in this very quiet neighborhood. Thanks for everyone’s comments and help!!

WSBKeymasterThis is apparently part of a project involving the 63rd Avenue Pump Station. KCWTD’s media liaison referred me to a community communications manager for the project and shared this info:
“The contractor for the 63rd project set up a temporary project office trailer at the Alki plant, but there is no scheduled construction there. She also said the contractor will be able to get power from the Alki plant, so the generator will be shut down, and she’s been in contact with the neighbor to let them know about the resolution to their noise complaint.
There has also been a slight adjustment to the work sequence, with the electrical work scheduled to start first followed by the installation of the new flap gate.”
If you’re not the neighbor with whom they’ve been in touch – I’ll add the community communicator’s info here – just got sidetracked to another story not long after getting the reply to this.
