fetchwestMemberMy husband and I were on 45th Ave SW and Alaska this evening, walking a pup. There was a siamese mix on the sidewalk, very friendly, bright blue eyes and cross-eyed. When the cat turned I could see there were some pretty extensive wounds on his right side, around the rib cage and shoulder. I am hesitant to take the cat from his neighborhood as maybe his owners thought he was ok to explore outside, the wounds looked like they were healing but there was a large mass behind the wounds. If the cat is still out there tomorrow I was thinking of taking him to the vet. I couldn’t tell if the wound was shaved or the hair had fallen out due to scar tissue. His fur did feel gritty like her may have fleas.
I don’t want to “steal” anyone’s cat but am concerned that the cat may need vet attention if he hasn’t seen a vet yet. He had no fear of the dog I was walking so the wounds could be from anything, I suppose. Should I pick the cat up and take him to the vet? I just wanted some opinions…. I have a picture, Just don’t know how to attach it…..

anonymeParticipantI agree with hammerhead. If an animal is suffering and obviously not cared for, it doesn’t matter to me if it has an owner or not. No cat should be outside in that state of either wounding or recovery. Sad.

hammerheadParticipantFetchwest, if you should see this cat again, please try and pick it up(have a carrier) and call Seattle Animal control or just take it down there. They open at noon, you could take it to South Seattle vet to check for a chip. I would suggest something closer, I just don’t know what vets are open today.

yeah-meParticipantI believe the West Seattle Animal Hospital in Jefferson Square is open seven days a week. Directly across from QFC and downstairs underneath Bartells.

fetchwestMemberThe cat was not there this morning but I will be in that area 3-4 times today. I am going to pick the cat up if I see him again, I put a carrier in my car. I will keep everyone posted is I find him again. How can I post a pic so people can see what he looks like?
