Do you support educational equity? Are you looking for a way to serve your community but can’t seem to find the time in your busy schedule? The Youth Tutoring Program offers a meaningful way for you to give back with only a one hour per week minimum commitment! Your life will be enhanced by the connection you make with a student through one-to-one tutoring.
YTP offers free, one-to-one tutoring for approximately 70 students grades 1-12 in High Point’s low-income housing community, at the High Point YTP Center. We serve a diverse group of students, 99% of whom are children of color and the majority of whom come from immigrant and refugee families. We build individualized tutoring plans for each unique student with a focus on skill building so our students can catch-up and get ahead in school. We need dedicated and caring tutors like you to tutor students 1:1 and foster meaningful mentoring and tutoring relationships.
No teaching experience is necessary- not only do we train our volunteers to be effective tutors, we provide our volunteers with the tools they need to make a difference!
High Point tutoring hours are:
Monday-Thursday 4:20-5:20, 5:30-6:30, and 6:40-7:40
Volunteers sign up for at least one hour per week, and are asked to commit to volunteering for six months.
School year tutoring begins in mid-September! Apply now and help students start the year off strong!
