Villa Heidelberg B&B on the market

Just drove past Villa Heidelberg this evening and saw for sale signs. Bummer. Then wondered if this is a landmark building. I really enjoyed their afternoon tea and open house last summer.

No, it’s not a landmark. Here’s the list:

..though that doesn’t include the three whose additions we have covered at the Landmarks Board in recent months: The Sanctuary at Admiral (a former Christian Science church), The Kenney’s Seaview Building (the one with the cupola), and the Bloss House (see this week’s coverage).

Somebody (if that wasn’t you) e-mailed us about Villa Heidelberg last night but we haven’t had time to follow up on it yet – doing so today – suddenly a lot of interesting real-estate, stalled-project, etc. followups in queue.

Are you worried about it being torn down or something, squareeyes? Being on the market might not necessarily be a bad thing. Haven’t seen the listing, but it was for sale/sold 10 years ago and it was a package deal that included the b&b business. It also could very easily be converted back to a single-family home though.

I’m not worried about it being torn down, just like the look of it and wouldn’t want to see any dramatic changes to the exterior. Although my guess is most people who would want to buy a place like that would do so because of its appearance and history and not intend to change it.

I’m with you! Looks like it’s listed for $1.3M, so that makes me think it’s being marketed as a business again, furnished and all. (Not much info on the listing page yet.) If that’s the case, I’d hope someone takes it on because they love the property.
