BonnieParticipantLeroniusmonkfish, you forgot gripes about parking lots and parking lot attendants. ;)
October 8, 2009 at 11:09 pm #679201
JoBParticipanthow about stalkers who follow employees in restaurants to see if they washed their hands after….

LeroniusmonkfishMemberI’m currently in the process of compiling info from all of the posts into an MS Excel spreadsheet and MS Access database with poster(s) name, profile info, etc. to formulate an accurate .ppt presentation as to who “bitches” the most and what exactly their real issues are and whether or not what appropriate authorities, psychologists, family members, etc. should be called into assist? Any suggestions on graph formatting?

sam-cParticipantyou forgot one gripe.
lots of people like to gripe about people who bring their children with them into restaurants. they claim that all children are unruly and obnoxious. I’m surprised that hasn’t been mentioned yet.
October 9, 2009 at 12:01 am #679204
LeroniusmonkfishMemberThanks sam-c I will factor that into my study. I will also include new/used car business owners opening up shop in WS, road construction, whether or not the WS Bridge is a freeway or not?, bicycle lanes and Mary Kay Latourneo.

Schmitz Park DadParticipantThanks for all of the interesting ideas….Angelina’s (TV’s planned for dining room), West 5 (only known bar in W Seattle without TV’s), TV-B-Gone devise and the Iphone app. I’m sure I can put at least some of that info to good use.

LeroniusmonkfishMemberI wish bars would put a ban on cell phone use. Maybe that should be another topic? Casinos already prohibit the use of cell phones. Nothing like sitting next to someone going blah, blah, blah on their phone. They are worse than sitting next to someone smoking a cigarette.

JoBParticipantSam-C
i only complain about loud and unruly kids… and the parents that don’t attend to them.
i appreciate families with well behaved children.. especially when i see parents giving their kids both time and attention.

Fancy NanParticipantWhat a bizarre concept….talking to the person sitting on the barstool next to you at a bar. What’s next, talking with our children at breakfast and dinner?!
October 9, 2009 at 4:38 pm #679209
JenVMembersome of us are able to both tolerate a TV in a bar and hold a conversation. It’s not that difficult. Again, if it is, don’t go to bars with TVs. This is the most ridiculous, WAAAAAAAH discussion I have ever seen on this blog. Something completely within your control to avoid, something that is not ever going to change no matter how hard you whine about it – and still this discussion has somehow gone to two pages. sheesh.

JiggersMemberExactly..JenV

Fancy NanParticipantOh my girlfriend. It’s just a blog. Don’t get so worked up. If you are not having fun here, find a new new sandbox to play in.
You are certainly passionate about your TV. I will make a concerted effort not to turn off any TV’s in restaurants and bars that you frequent.
October 9, 2009 at 6:37 pm #679212
JenVMemberit is not the TVs that I am passionate about, “girlfriend”. It’s the idiocy. And I hope you do go around turning TVs off at will. It’s a good way to get yourself 86’d from a bar.
October 9, 2009 at 7:42 pm #679213
bluebirdMemberJenV, just bum a smoke from someone. “Girlfriend” will dissolve into a wisp of steam like the wicked witch.
Some people are passionate about joining a forum just to be antagonistic. Calling it fun, just makes them a sadist.

Junction JoeParticipantGod help us, not another cat fight.

KeithMember“This is the most ridiculous, WAAAAAAAH discussion I have ever seen on this blog. Something completely within your control to avoid, something that is not ever going to change no matter how hard you whine about it -“
Yet here you are, continuing to read a thread you could easily avoid, whining about other people’s opinions that you’re not going to change. Talk about ridiculous! Not everyone shares your views. Get over it.
October 9, 2009 at 9:35 pm #679216
bluebirdMemberI get the difference of opinion, different things bother different people. But how is it ok to go on to someone else’s private property (bar), and turn off their TV? The same poster had a problem with rude smokers on public property, but doesn’t see the irony in being a rude guest?
October 10, 2009 at 12:57 pm #679217
Fancy NanParticipantMy dear Jen, I can assure you that I have never been 86’d from a bar, and never will. The TV-B-Gone devise is so small, no one ever knows who is turning off those darn TV’s! It looks like a key chain for a car remote. Here’s a link in case you should decide you want one.
I can tell you my dear, it is the best $20 I’ve ever spent. Fabulous idea on the Iphone app that also turns off TV’s! Would love to learn more about that. You might just find that you’ll enjoy a conversation with a real live human one night when you are out having a drink. When I turn off TV’s in bars, it’s amazing how many people never miss having the TV’s on. The women seem to really appreciate having their man pay attention to them, instead of watching the game. Making the world a better place, one less TV at a time ;)
October 10, 2009 at 3:30 pm #679218
grrParticipant“Buzz Killingtons” Now..THERE’S a band name if I ever heard one :)
October 10, 2009 at 4:25 pm #679219
cclarueMemberI dont know of too many men who would be watching a game at a bar with their wife/girlfriend and mysteriously the tv shuts off. And the mans response would be to just now pay attention to his wife/gf. Pretty much they are going to want to know what the heck happened to the game and the fastest way to get it back on the tv. i dont see these men just accepting the game is off. More than likely they just will think that the bar is at fault which could be bad for business for the establishment and could cause lost business. Now that doesn,t seem like a very nice thing to do. but hey that is just my opinion.

WesCAddleMemberLet’s get back to the whole “Dogs in bars” topic. That one was really entertaining.
October 11, 2009 at 8:17 pm #679221
ToddinWestwoodMemberHooverville down in SoDo, on first, has no tvs.
Loretta’s in South Park has no tvs.
Nine Pound Hammer, Jules Maes and Smarty Pants in Georgetown dont have tvs.
I was out on a motorcycle ride last week and headed over to Prost to find some German goodness, but when I pulled up, I heard a huge cheer going up from the bar. They were watching the Seahawk game at full blast.
I dont go to Seahawks games and throw saurkraut on people, please dont “Hawk” me in a German Gast Haus.

JiggersMemberJoB..You’re right. Not prude. My mind was in the gutter. Maybe the more definitive term here is an ‘elitist.” And there are many of them living in West Seattle.
October 11, 2009 at 10:31 pm #679223
JoBParticipantjiggers..
me elitist? LOL.. not a chance ..
i drive an older minivan. every piece of clothing i wear has dog hair on it within seconds of putting it on.. i can’t seem to get through dinner out without sharing some of the sauce with my shirt.. and i wear flipflops with good footbeds most of the year… i read mysteries and historical romances when i can’t sleep. I even read people magazine in waiting rooms:(
Can preferring live company to canned entertainment make me an elitist? i think not.
October 11, 2009 at 10:38 pm #679224
JiggersMemberJoB..I wasn’t talking about you.
