that sucks. It’s the only chain coffee I like.

It’s always seemed to me that Tully’s trying to beat Starbucks at their own game, but they started too far behind and without enough capital.

I find the experience of the two nearly indistinguishable. I’ve probably only had Tully’s coffee 3 times in the past 5 years, but I will say that it’s been better every time than the scorched battery acid that passes for Starbucks drip coffee these days.

Now, if I could figure out how to get Cellar Door Coffee here in Seattle…

I’ve never liked the drip at either of them. Starbucks tastes burned to me, and Tully’s always upset my stomach. It’s the only drip coffee that’s done that, including the stuff I’ve gotten at gas stations in the middle of nowhere at 4 am.

Now what I’d like is to get Phil’z Coffee up here. Or a local equivalent…

How do you go broke selling coffee in Seattle? Maybe Howard had a hand in doing this.

Check out Seattle Coffee Works near PP Market sometime. I avoided them for a long time, worried that they would be a tourist trap, the coffee equivalent of the t-shirt shops, but when I gave them a try I was blown away; VERY fresh roast, blends and single variety beans available. Helpful baristas who can talk you through your coffee selection. A real coffee nerds paradise.

I’ve tried to convince Sebastian the need to open an outlet in W. Sea., so far to no avail (obv!).

They are ALMOST good enough to make special trips downtown, but the MetroSexualMarket coffee ALMOST rises to the same level (though not nearly the variety).
