Toxic Smell in the Morning

I’m on 35th and Alaskan, and once a month or so there is a really toxic smell that just hovers for hours, usually starts around 5am. Smells like a burned out clutch or bad chemicals. Anybody have any idea? I used to think it was the homeless folks burning garbage at Totem Pole Park, but they aren’t there anymore.

Can you tell which way the wind/breeze is coming when you notice it?
Perhaps it is from the steel mill.

i smell it as well, many early mornings. more than 1/month. usually on morning when there isn’t a breeze. maybe just wafting up the hill (admiral) from somewhere down the hill ?

Unless there’s something going on at Terminal 5 the only other real suspect would be the steel mill.

I live next to the steel plant and from time to time they release an acrid foul smelling smoke. its vile and I’m willing to bet toxic.

This could still be homeless folks; there are two people living just on the other side of the fence from Rotary Viewpoint. There’s a woman who’s been there for three years and there’s an absolutely rancid smelling garbage pit next to her camp. I wouldn’t be surprised if the smell wafts up when there’s not as much exhaust/other activity to cover it up early in the morning.
