You got on the viaduct at Seneca southbound and merged in front of me with no lights on around 9:30pm. I flashed my high beams at you a number of times because it was obvious your lights weren’t on when you hit your breaks and they lit up like a Christmas Tree. I did it again going up the bridge after the stadium curves and you moved in the right lane. I wanted you to turn your lights on and be safe not move over! Once behind me at least you had daytime running lights in front and zero lights in back. I followed you all the way off the West Seattle bridge until I turned on 35th and you went straight on Fauntleroy. It was a woman, over 50, short curly white/gray hair. You need to turn your lights on at night before someone rear ends you.

Being seeing this fairly often this winter–including at 60 mph on I-5 the other night.

I flash my oncoming beams about 3x a week at folks obliviously coming off the Ferry, trundling up Fauntleroy as bikers and peds with dogs meander about around them.

Surprising how many don’t seem to notice my warning and continue on their merry way.

I’ve done it once pulling out of a very bright gas station in a week old car that had a bright instrument panel even if the headlights were off. A cop pulled out of the north precinct and cut me off because my lights were off and nearly hit me. The cop swung around, turned on their lights to pull me over and I looked down and realized my lights weren’t on and clicked them on as she pulled next to me with her window down and told me that’s why she cut me off. So embarrassing. I was driving a friend for the first time in my fancy new car. I get it. It happens if you’re somewhere bright and don’t notice. But jeez I’m not trying to aggressively pass you I want you to not get hit!

wakeflood, the reason they don’t notice your flashing lights is the same reason they are driving around with lights off. Clueless, too tired, distracted or some other excuse.

No excuses are acceptable when it comes to the proper use of a several K lb vehicle capable of moving at high speeds. Keep your lights on ALWAYS, even during the day. More visibility is never a bad thing.
