JanSParticipant2600 block…either you live on 42nd or you live on 41st – no matter. A gentleman decided to get rid of a couch early this morning by dumping it on someone else property. They didn’t appreciate it, so they moved it and dumped it behind the building where I live, blocking the access to the trash containers that the trash pickup people use. How neighborly of you lovely people!!! Next time could you keep it on your own property or return it from whence it came. Thank you. Now my landlord has to deal with it.
In case anyone is interested, it’s rather flowery, not sure what condition it’s in (didn’t look closely), but if you’re interested it’s halfway down the alley between 41st SW and 42nd SW, between Admiral to the north, Lander to the south. Bring a truck :D

GinaParticipantI wonder if it is the same one that was dumped at the bus stop at 45th and Admiral over the weekend.

metrognomeParticipantJanS – thanks for the tip; I have a couch I need to get rid of …
September 18, 2014 at 4:20 am #813607
datamuseParticipantI’m now imagining this couch migrating all over West Seattle.
September 18, 2014 at 4:35 am #813608
metrognomeParticipantI heard a rumor that only the ‘in crowd’ gets to sit on it.

seaopgalParticipantWelcome back, metrognome, we’ve missed you :)

JanSParticipantmetro…if it rains tonight, that’s gonna be one big soggy sit !

HollyWMemberJanS I feel your pain, but the fact is we live in a city – we live in a population dense area, complete with dead-ends and alleyways. These things happen in cities – humans are flawed, I’m not sure why you feel that you are so special that you and your alley are immune to the same occasional inconveniences that the rest of us graciously tolerate…(It sounds like your neighbors were trying to help and put it by the trash cans) I’m sure you’ll take offense because I am not agreeing with you, but I think you’d be happier if you would embrace a “c’est la vie” outlook : ) BTW It does sound like a great place for the “in-crowd” lol!

Infrequent CommenterMemberLooking for someone with a truck to haul away heavy things?
Sounds like you need a husband. Lol j/k ;) !

vogelParticipantMove it where the disappearing bench used to be!

ErikParticipantJan – This happens to me often at my corner. I feel your pain.
September 18, 2014 at 6:40 pm #813616
JanSParticipantfor the record, Ms. Holly…in your thread, I said nothing about the trash being dumped at your dead end. It’s abhorrent. People are pigs whether in your neighborhood or mine. Capiche? Snark is great, but…. I don’t feel like I’m more special than anyone else, thank you very much. Crap happens. I didn’t ask for people to go away because of where I live. We have dogs walk by all the time. It’s a vibrant neighborhood. Still , people need to be responsible for their own crap, and get rid of their own stuff, the right way. Neither you nor I would do this…right?
And…enough about that “in crowd” crap…that’s not snark…that’s just being petty and pissy ! and tiresome !

JanSParticipantvogel…in #10…bet the neighbor with the axe would love that ;-). We have teenagers from the highschool who hang out in the alley (hiding from truant). Now they have someplace to sit, I suppose – lol. Except it got rained on. Serves them right, I’m thinkin’ :D
September 18, 2014 at 6:59 pm #813618
JanSParticipantwhoa..y’all are slippin’..what? No comments about “you can give it but not take it”? lol..
September 19, 2014 at 4:32 am #813619
trickycooljParticipantNext time (hopefully there isn’t one) just snap a pic and put it in the free section of Craigslist.
September 19, 2014 at 7:27 am #813620
JanSParticipantI guess they original guy was thinking someone might want it and take it. It’s now been rained on. Yeah, we all want soggy, moldy old couches ;-) I did post it on a site I belong to that deals with giving things , or “regifting”…but there it sits. Will have to figure who to call in govt. to get it removed, I suppose

SueParticipantJan, here’s the info on reporting illegal dumping: http://www.seattle.gov/util/environmentconservation/ourcity/reportillegaldumping/
I used to live off a garbage-dump alley, so knew where to find it.
September 19, 2014 at 8:31 pm #813622
JanSParticipantthanks, Sue. Landlord texted me this morning, said she has reached out to utilities. I may report it anyway…make them move quicker :D
September 20, 2014 at 10:50 pm #813623
singularnameParticipantAs an avid “photographer” of sofas and upholstered chairs ’round town, I got up there and grabbed a shot of this one. Thanks for the tip, JanS! :-> And I hope it got gone by now. I’m both baffled and fascinated by the mindset that thinks this is okay. One day I’ll get a website and post all these pics. I think I’m getting up to about thousand.
[And to the folks who take issue with what they consider hijacked threads and/or folks not agreeing with them: Lame-o troll-eo!]
September 21, 2014 at 12:33 am #813624
JanSParticipantlol…..I’m on the second floor there…you should have yelled, or thrown rocks or something :)
It’s still there…both the manager and I have reached out to utilities and reported it. The ball is in their court. Did ya notice that it looks like there are no legs? Definitely colorful, though :D
September 21, 2014 at 12:44 am #813625
metrognomeParticipantno legs? Drat! I was working on the theory that it walked there while looking for a bus stop, got tired and sat down to rest for a while. Hmmm … maybe there are casters hidden underneath.
Kinda reminds me of a real life episode when I worked for Metro. My boss got called out to deal with the belligerent son of an Access rider. Turned out he wanted his mother transported in her Barcolounger; because it had ‘wheels’, he insisted it was a ‘wheelchair.’
September 21, 2014 at 4:26 am #813626
JanSParticipantlolol….then maybe he just shoulda pushed her there
