There appears to be a stuck bus at the corner of SW 30th and SW Hinds. The bloody thing has it’s reverse signal blaring, but it’s moving. It’s a bus headed for the terminal. I have no idea why it would even come down this way as these streets do not have buses and aren’t even able to accommodate them. Seems the driver can’t get around the corner because one side of the street is lined with cars, and there’s a truck parked (perhaps illegally) in front of a fire hydrant making the turn he’s trying to make virtually impossible. The nuisance of the noise this early in the morning is disturbing. I also wonder why there’s a bus down here (he clearly came from SW Admiral).

And metro bus 2573 just backed into a car, forcefully moving it a short distance. Nice metro bus driver nice.

If you park in the yellow or red near a bus stop your car might get hit by a bus. I recommend not parking on those places.

That wasn’t the case in this situation. We don’t have any bus stops in our little area because the roads are too narrow, and the turns too tight. The bus was apparently trying to take a shortcut or there was something blocking the Admiral entrance onto the bridge.

I’m confused by your statement that the bus “has it’s [sic] reverse signal blaring, but it’s moving.” I assume you’re talking about the reverse alert sound the buses make, so this sound should be on if the bus is moving.

Anyway, sounds like the driver made a wrong turn (obviously.) As annoyed as you are, think about how bad it is for the people stuck on that bus who just want to get to work/school/home. I had an idiot bus driver a few weeks back, heading home from downtown, who decided it was a good idea to turn right in front of another bus from a “through” lane (not a turning lane) onto Columbia from Third. While attempting this illegal turn, he nosed the bus right against a light pole and managed to block traffic heading south on Third and anyone hoping to continue on Columbia to the Viaduct. It was so frustrating for us passengers, as we couldn’t be let out into traffic, and other drivers were (rightfully) angry and honking like mad.

Point being, it sucks for everyone when a driver screws up. Sorry. :-(

The bus was attempting to reverse but was stuck, so not moving, but alert still sounding. The driver was heading to the terminal, so the bus was empty of passengers. Really, it was just a nuisance and the driver was careless. First in trying to get through that neighbourhood and secondly for backing up into a vehicle. At first, he’d back up a little, then stick his head out the door to see where he was in relation to the car and a truck next to him (which he was close to scraping). I’m not sure why he suddenly backed up so far and so fast without checking where the back of the bus was in relation to the vehicle.

Bus drivers in Arbor Heights (route 21) frequently take short cuts off-route through the neighborhood to avoid having to make the loop. Usually they are on their way to taking a break or at the end of a shift. This leaves potential riders completely stranded;just because there are no more riders on the bus does not mean no one is waiting. Obviously this is happening elsewhere as well.
