I noticed where they put the storm drain at the new curbing being done at 35th and 100ave. Really?? I guess at least there is no chance the drain will ever get clogged but to me it looks like there will still be a big puddle potential on that corner. Kind of dumb for a project that is supposed to be making it more pedestrian friendly.

This is a problem all along 35th south of Rox, as well as much of Arbor Heights. A neighbor and I tried to get SDOT to address the problem for several years, but they blew us off. Many drains and other utility covers have been asphalted over. Others sit in badly eroded right of way areas where they stand well proud of the ground surface, and therefore are completely useless. I’m also wondering if the new drainage pipes under the sidewalk will funnel more water with more force further south where the channel is still an open ditch. SDOT and Metro are quite a team when it comes to poor planning.

Actually I noticed this morning that they do have another drain at the hotspot on the corner. It was just the drain that was halfway up the hill that I noticed first. Hopefully it will not be too bad
