Now that my passenger seat has been completely taken out of my car to get the soap out (see post earlier this week!) Once Rico’s crew is done, I’m going to have to pay Honda a visit to have my SRS Warning light (airbags/seatbelt) diagnosed and (hopefully not) repaired. I usually go to Lynnwood Honda, they’re awesome! But it’s summer and traffic is not awesome. And I don’t really want to ask for another virtual day to try and take my car in up there. Does anyone do actual services at Burien or Downtown Honda? Most of what I’ve seen online is not favorable but all seem sales related. Burien keeps sending me coupons to check out their new service center and I could bus over to work from there.

I know there’s several local non-dealer mechanics that are recommended a lot but this is going to have to be a dealer-only trip this time.

Yeah, I don’t have anything to add specifically about the service dept. but the sales guys weren’t really helpful…

Personally I would go to a local mechanic

While that would be fantastic, because this is an airbag system error diagnosis I’m going to have to go to the dealer this time. That’s why I specifically asked about Burien and Downtown.

Since about 2002, I bought all 3 of my (and my family members’) Hondas at Burien Honda and LOVED that business when it was owned by the E. family…..did all my maintenance there, too. They sold it a couple years ago and it was purchased by (can’t remember the name) an outfit that has other dealerships, and it’s TERRIBLE now. TERRIBLE. They call all the time to “buy” my old cars, they never remember my name, and they charge for EVERYTHING. I wanted to see why my keyless lock entry wasn’t working, and they wanted something like $103 to do a diagnostic! Likewise, believe it or not, when my rear hatchback wasn’t closing tightly. I went to a mechanic down the street and had it repaired for $23. I will never go back to Burien Honda, and yes, I have told them and I still tell them, every time they call. I go all the way to Lynnwood Honda now, excellent service, I did both of my recalls there recently.

The Husband has taken our Insight and Accord downtown for a couple years. It’s easy for him because he can drop them off on the way in and walk to work. He reports back that the service is fine. He’s never complained after anything so I take that as a thumbs up! The cars were purchased in another state and not from them if that matters.

I’ve taken my past two Hondas to the downtown Honda for service and have always been pleased. Easy to work with, quick, no problems, super nice and reasonable priced for a dealership. My most recent trip was an emergency one – they got me in on the same day and it was Saturday, got it done in 1 hour and 45 minutes when they quoted me 2 hours and IDed another issue I needed to have dealt with and did that in the time they had quoted for just the one issue.

I also have taken my car to Burien Honda and for the last 5 years. Last visit I noticed the ownership change and remodel. They performed as expected and I was satisfied. They are motivated to do service workget business in and have mailed me regularly with coupons equal to 10% off any service work total. Coupon is VIN# targeted but I’m sure you could get the same deal. They seemed nice enough considering it’s a “dealer”. I’ve also been to Downtown Honda with equal satisfaction but haven’t seen any recent mailing from them except for an oil change deal. Get a new car! Some of the new Hondas are pretty sweet!

Great info! Burien has been sending me coupons a lot lately and frequent “we’ll pay 130% KBB!” letters. Some googling had turned up info about the change of ownership and Yelp reviews were all over the place but really sales oriented. My mom had an awful experience at Toyota in Burien years ago when she got her Scion which naturally she extrapolated to all Burien car dealers. But it does sound like a pretty mixed bag depending on the issue. Downtown might be an option if I can’t get to Lynnwood before my next trip to visit my mom’s new place in Portland!

I bought my car up at Lynnwood and they’ve been great over the last 8 years. I always see the same crew too. I’ll definitely be heading up there when the new HRV (Fit “urban SUV”) comes out this winter!

We’ve used Burien. I did like the old crew better than the new crew, but I can’t complain that its horrible. You might check with the Dealer about the airbag light, we had a recall on it recently that they fixed, so you may be covered.

Thanks for the recall tip! Unfortunately it coincided with spilling a half gallon of Softsoap in the seat and over the phone they said it could be any number of electronics in the seat like the weight sensor that’s having difficulty. Fingers crossed when the seat is all cleaned up at Rico’s the sensors play nice and the light only needs reset!

I used to use Greg’s for my Subaru and thought they did a good job. Japanese specialists.

I have been happy with Burien Honda for service work even after the big remodel. They have coupons on their website as well so check there. (I just used one last week for a timing belt replacement that saved me a lot of money.) It was still crazy expensive but that would’ve been pricey anywhere. We had a horrible sales experience at Lynnwood Honda and will never go back there so I guess it really depends on the individual experience though!

I have used both Burien and downtown Honda for service for the last 10+ years. Burien used to be great but since they changed owners, they have gone downhill and, based on some recommended work that turned out to be completely unnecessary, and the fact that the service manager couldn’t look me in the eye while he tried to explain it, I no longer trust them and now take my vehicles either to Honda downtown or to Tom’s Automotive. In addition, just last month a family member took their Honda to Burien to have a squeaky wheel checked out. They determined the problem and said it would be ~$800 to fix. My family member approved that and said, “oh yeah, I have a 15% off coupon too.” They went ahead and started the work and – surprise surprise – they found an additional item to be repaired that just happened to roughly equal the 15% savings so she still paid $800 + tax. She didn’t push the issue and went ahead and got the work done but that was the last straw for me, zero trust in those guys at this point. Stay away!

Went to Lynnwood afterall and they proved once again why they are winners in my book. They were really busy so it took a while, but after running the codes from my SRS warning light they found all systems were working. The Service manager I was assigned to said he couldn’t justify charging me since nothing was wrong! How awesome was that? The person that had checked me in said the diagnosis would be up to but no more than $109…. I saved a lot of money today! I’m way out of warranty too, it was just straight up nice. And it’s what keeps me going back.
