HarmonicParticipantIt’s beyond mowing hope – and we have some ideas what to do. At this point I just want to raze it. Not to mention the twin towers going in next door that I have no clue the plans (one house per lot, not). They followed something of a construction fence landscape which does not follow property line….
We are one of those houses that sits way above the sidewalk. I’m looking for a recommendation for a heavy equipment crew that can get us to start over point. Walkway and existing landscape removal. Any help? I love nothing, it all goes…

funkietooParticipantVentana Construction performs a lot of this type of hardscape. They are local, excellent project managers, perfectionists and timely communicators. Their phone number is 932-3009.

anonymeParticipantPlease hire someone knowledgeable like V. Bulldog. Whatever you do, don’t bring heavy equipment, such as backhoes or bulldozers, onto your property. This severely compacts the soil to such an extent that remediation is nearly impossible. It takes soil decades or longer to recover, and simply adding new topsoil or compost will not fix the problem. This is fine if you’re installing a parking lot, but not if you want a yard or garden. You see this all the time with new construction. A layer of soil is added, plants are installed – then, a couple of years later, the roots hit the compressed layer and everything dies. Frustrating – and very expensive. Construction companies may be good at some things, but landscaping done by construction crews should be considered temporary at best.
