It’s time leave our lovely rental home and buy..we’d like to stay in the West Seattle area as we’ve had a great experience here so far. Looking at homes today and two are in the Seahurst Park area. Any good/bad thoughts about this? Realtor’s will only tell you so much…..thanks!

Seahurst Park in Burien? If so, I would strongly encourage you to look at the Btown Blog. Burien has a city manager form of government, and the current city manager is questionable as are his friends on the city council. If you care at all about how your city is run and/or how its stray animals are cared for (or not), please do some research.

mehud, thank you for pointing me in the direction of the Burien blog. I just finished one very long thread about the animal facility and CARES and I have a number of thoughts about this. One, it certainly sounds like this is a system that needs fixing. Two, the number of animals that come into the hands of any animal shelter/protective services could be drastically reduced if the citizens of said city/county would do their due diligence, spaying/neutering their pets, keeping them on leashes per the law, and maintaining them in their yards/homes. Why should the taxpayer foot the bill for pet-owning citizens that do not follow good animal ownership habits? If all pet owners would properly care for their animals, there would still be those animals who got out of the yard because someone left the fence open or what have you, but there would be far fewer lost/stray animals for the city to manage. Just my thoughts…and again, thanks for the heads up! ~Breezy

Other than the USELESS animal control issue,

the city manager is making burien go broke businesses are leaving in droves. I still go to West Seattle to eat out all the time.

Mike Martin wanted to annex white center and burien is broke enough. If you are into politics at all…. the election is coming up. This will effect a lot of things. Seahurst is beautiful, same issue with dogs of leash too.

While the b-town blog SUCKS compared to WSB, it will give you some basics.

    Good luck
