We just got a phone call from someone claiming to be from the US treasurey!!! They left the below message (I blocked out our name). I called the number back and you could hear this loud call center in the background. I yelled at the guy and told him never to call our number and we knew it was a scam. Everyone should call and give them hell. OMG i’m so pissed! (Comcast voicemail):

“This message is intended for xxxxxx xxxxxxx. This is Nelson Potter with the department. We get affairs of US treasury and I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. This is a verbal notification for you in regards to the enforcement action that has been started on your name. My number is 858-206-7012. I repeat that 858-206-7012. If for any reasons you are busy to call back. I would suggest you do have your region attorney to do it for you as delay in calling us might end up into a legal message for you. I hope you would take this right and call me right back. This is Nelson Carter with the Department of-begin(?) appears looking father to speak to you until then. Goodbye.”

    Got the same call today.

Dont know if it would help but one News page out of Philly says

The Treasury Department is now urging people to report the bogus phone calls.

A spokesperson for Treasury provided the following contact information:

    OIG Hotline online form http://www.treasury.gov/about/organizational-structure/ig/Pages/OigOnlineHotlineForm.aspx

    Email: Hotline@oig.treas.gov

    Call: 1-800-359-3898

Lots of variations of this call have been happening lately. Don’t call the number back. Just do a search for the number and find out about others’ experiences with it. Then report your call experience and forget about it. I’ve had several instances happen. Each time they ‘escalate’ the urgency. They’re asses that don’t deserve your acknowledgement.
