GinaParticipantA friend that lives in Georgia says that a rumor is sweeping the South. Joe Biden is going to drop out, and Hillary Clinton will be Mr. Obama’s VP running mate.
There is no hard evidence to support this rumor, but I thought I would mention it, just for the heck of it.

WSBKeymasterSeems to be the rumor du jour – checked Google News Search just for yuks and among the links was this roundup:

charlabobParticipantOf course — Bill said (on the View) that she didn’t want to be asked; first the “aw shuck, demurr” then jump on.
Does everyone/anyone think the addition of a qualified white woman will trump the *6%* deficit of people who won’t vote for a black (person)?

beachdrivegirlParticipantCharla are you insisting that people are “racist”???
Of course Hillary wouldnt make up the difference….
September 23, 2008 at 2:57 am #640686
charlabobParticipantNo, BDG, I’m reporting on disconcerting poll results which were lead stories in many places.

GenHillOneParticipantI prefer to believe the rumor that Sarah will drop out in October over a manufactured family crisis.

JanSParticipantoh, we can only hope…

inactiveMemberI’m on board with GHO’s rumor mill. Like it.
Do tell more, if you’ve got the scoop.
Thanks

charlabobParticipantPerhaps Biden isn’t as happy on the ticket as he expected. Here, he criticizes a McCain/Biden attack ad. Somehow that violates the Veep role of attack dog :-)

GenHillOneParticipantooh, charlabob, Freudian slip? nooooooo
September 23, 2008 at 4:23 am #640692
JoBParticipantI am not so sure how they would pull it off at this late date.. but she would strengthen the ticket..
September 23, 2008 at 4:33 pm #640693
SuitsarenotBoringMemberI seriously doubt that either ticket will switch VP candidates. You want the candidate to look strong and decisive and saying “Oops! Wrong VP choice!” sends a bad message.
September 23, 2008 at 4:55 pm #640694
JoBParticipantyes, it does.
but if the vp candidate withdraws for a “compeling” reason… then it’s not so bad.
now, what could be possibly be compelling enough for sarah? she has hopscotched over all the major contenders.
September 23, 2008 at 5:17 pm #640695
RainyDay1235MemberYes, the rumor is it will happen on Oct 5th too…
I saw Biden’s comments on the ad. I think noting McCain’s lack of technical knowledge isn’t really a cheap shot, it’s the world we live in, and he’s outdated. However, even if Biden didn’t agree with it, he should have kept his mouth shut. It’s nothing compared to the McCain ads.
Ooh, cannot wait for these debates!
September 23, 2008 at 6:05 pm #640696
BayouMemberJoB, Perhaps the results from the troopergate investigation would be compelling enough?
September 23, 2008 at 6:25 pm #640697
KenParticipantWhat are you guys smokin?
At this point, an HRC hijack of the vp slot would be the only thing that could stop me from working for the ticket. It would violate nearly all the party rules and procedures and drive every progressive and liberal with a brain out of the organization.
This rumor also implies she does not have any more sense than a turnip. Her best bet is the snipe from the sidelines as Obama is drowned by the financial, foreign policy and core economic legacy of the last 30 years of republican (and DLC) rule. If the country survives she will be swept into office in 2012 or 2016 by the survivors.
Or some unknown cornpone Nazi/theocrat will arise and finish off the constitution.
That’s your choice.
2004 was the last chance to avoid this and the “average” American decided to load us all on this train to the abyss with the cheerleaders of the corporate media lining the tracks.
September 23, 2008 at 6:35 pm #640698
charlabobParticipantI’m not sure what you’re saying, Ken — do you mean we win and Obama drowns in the mess left over by the previous administrations? He seems to be unwilling to accept the faux “bipartisan blame” for the economic mess that is the current KoolAid(tm) so that may save him.
Personally, I think Biden expected the “kid” to defer to his DLC-ish wisdom. I don’t mind disagreement — “If I’d known about it, this ad wouldn’t have run,” smacks of something worse. “I’m the grown-up and I’m just letting Barack play dress-up.”
(Besides, I liked the ad–but that’s just me.)
Your last graph is golden — absolutely the best short description of the last four years I’ve seen.
September 23, 2008 at 6:45 pm #640699
KenParticipantObama has already switched sides on net neutrality to the Biden/McAwful side of “turn it all over to the telcos and cable companies”
This will make the internet into just another advertising venue which will lock out or absorb any other players.
To be fair, Hillary would have done the same.
Obama might not be any better unless we force him to.
Well, no. The argument is not to go back to the regulatory framework of the 1930’s because, as I said, the financial markets have changed substantially.
