Resources on Northwest Tribes?

Hey WSB readers,
As a newcomer to this region, I’m really interested in learning about the Northwest tribes, especially those in our immediate area – their history, cultures, and especially any environmental activism they’ve been involved in. I want to be very respectful in engaging with these communities and do my homework. Can anyone recommend good reading and/or organizations I get can involved with?
