    Just curious as to why the red buses might be honking like crazy at the green buses when they’re letting passengers off. I see this daily. Are the green buses not supposed to be using the same stops? That’s the only thing I can think of. Regardless, it seems rude; if not to the bus driver, then to the people living nearby.

    Sometimes they honk if they have a passenger who needs to get on the other bus? They want the bus to wait?

    Fiona is correct – that’s the signal to the bus ahead that the bus behind has a passenger who wants to transfer at that stop.

    Long-time convention, and used even more now that there are fewer direct bus routes and so more transfers.
