tedb310ParticipantAs anyone in West Seattle could attest to, this area is full of uncontrolled intersections. I would encourage everyone to read and try to understand the rules governing them. They can be found at:

PLSParticipantA-freaking-men. And I would add that until you are positive that the other directions have a stop or yield sign, presume they do NOT and treat every intersection as uncontrolled.

DaveBParticipantAnd when the party that does not have the right of way speeds up to get there first(esp at traffic circles), I want to scream.

tedb310ParticipantAnd note that the law says “approximately” the same time. If it’s even close yield to the vehicle on your right.

SarahScootParticipantI’ve noticed a tendency in my neighborhood (Fairmount Park) for drivers heading east/west between 35th and Fauntleroy to assume they have some kind of inalienable right of way. I do not know where this impression comes from. Cars going down or up Graham, Raymond, Juneau… all just fly by with no regard for traffic on 36th, 37th, 38th, and 39th avenues. It’s bizarre.

SueParticipantSarahScott, I’ve noticed the same thing. I’m usually traveling between 35th and Fauntleroy on Juneau, and I slow down at every single intersection to make sure someone’s not jumping out at me. And then I nearly get rear-ended by people who don’t expect me to slow/stop. I’ve had too many close calls on that street with cars blowing through uncontrolled intersections. Or controlled ones where they ignore that they have a stop sign.

JanSParticipantI find myself pulling over and letting people pass far too many times, when they get too close as I slow down at those intersections. One can only go as fast as the person in front of them..annoying as he!! !

sjupiter30MemberWhen I first moved to WS, I was guilty of it because in the city I’m from, the “secondary” streets had stop signs at the intersections. It wasn’t until I was driving on (what I thought) was a secondary street that the intersections had no stop signs…I’m assuming these drivers are transplants and not paying any attention to it.
