KevinParticipantSo there is another rant about the forums being boring lately, and folks hijacking threads, so I figured I would just start my own rant, following WSB rant rules of course!
.
So said hospital has failed to provide me timely updates about my care while I’m here at this nameless hospital that just happens to have an S in the first part of their name.
.
I talked to the head nurse and she said I have a valid complaint, and they would start text messaging the GI team that start work at 7am and have yet to provide an ETA of when I will see them.
.
2nd text is now is now being paged because they did not answer their 1st page.
.
This RANT is HUMOR, however I really am a “guest” here. NO flowers / cards desired. I’m just trying to make the forums LESS boring, since I’m already bored to death after just 13 hours into this visit.
.
I think my room number is 766 but I’m not sure?
.
NEWS flash = GI team DID answer their 2nd page, and gave an ETA of 12 noon 8/27
.
we’ll see… :) The rant still stands though :)

JanSParticipanthey…I think I’ve been there…so sorry you have to spend time at what I call the S_______Spa and Med. Center. Hope all is good…or at least getting better :)

JoBParticipanti am tickled you are well enough to be bored..
and still cranky enough to rant..
about this nameless hospital where they schedule their tests at their convenience
and figure that their guests have unlimited time to accommodate their schedule…
i am told the food is good ;->

JanSParticipantwell, the salmon is actually pretty good…pan roasted w/ olive oil and herbs…get it with lemon slices…was there for 5 days, had salmon for 5 days – lolol…

KevinParticipant@-JanS – The salmon IS very good!

Ms. SparklesParticipantAlso the Mocha Shake…don’t let them discharge you without getting the Mocha Shake.
I had both my children at the S Spa and Med clinic – and I essentially discharged myself after my youngest was born. I was fortunate enough to have a perfectly uneventful delivery…so they promptly forgot about me. Several hours after the Dr. came by and gave the newborn the all clear, no one had popped in to take out my IVs ect. so I could free up that precious bed space…So I did it for them.
No wheelchair out, no double check that I even had a baby carrier (I did) I just waltzed out the door and let someone at the nurses station know I was leaving; they didn’t bat an eye.

JanSParticipantsadly, I was on the renal/diabetic diet…no mocha shake for me :(

KevinParticipant@JanS. The let me out the second morning. Everything all fixed now, but I made sure I had the salmon for breakfast while waiting for my discharge papers :)

JKBParticipantEven on that restrictive diet, you can order anything you want. I asked for a 16 oz prime rib, a pint of bourbon, and a big slice of cheesecake.
Nurse didn’t even crack a smile, just asked me again what I wanted for dinner.

JanSParticipantlol…JKB…you can order anything you want…doesn’t mean you will get it. Oh, and now they just give you a menu, and you pick up the phone, and order directly. Their computer in the kitchen says what you can have and can’t have according to what your doc said. It’s an “on demand” system…shoot, they even denied me tomatoes – lol….

KevinParticipantJust a quick followup. In the end, the GI team finally made their appearance, and actually did apologize for their tardiness, and lack of updates.
.
Everything is fine with me, and I’m now back home, although it would have been nice to stay at least one more day in order to get one more order of their pan seared salmon :)
.
On a serious note, Swedish Hospital provides a very high level of quality care. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
.
Not in West Seattle – but well worth the drive.

I happen to know that there’s another reason you would have liked to stay one more day, or at least been discharged much later in the day….
Nearly five years ago now, after being away from home for 52(?) days due to a lengthy hospitalization, the night before my release from the Recovery Center where I’d spent the previous 8-9 days, one of the either Physical, or Occupational Therapists who was assessing me for discharge asked; “……what is keeping you here?”
I almost respond; “Three tasty meals a day!” :-)
