UrbanFabulousParticipantEvery time I buy fruit at this store it is moldy! This has happened 3 or 4 times now. I’ve decided that I just won’t buy my produce here any more because I’m sick of wasting my money on rotten fruit. I get better produce at safeway.

MissKMemberYou know if you do go to Safeway go to the one on Roxbury. Also try out Tony’s Produce stand on 35th and Barton. He has comprable if not better prices and nice produce. I also like at Tony’s someone is always there to help you. However, I also found that the Safeway’s produce people always are helpful too.

jMemberI would encourage you to tell the manager. They are extremely responsive to customer feedback. I think there is a link on Thriftway’s website to “contact them” about anything. I’ve emailed them before and their manager responded within a few days.

UrbanFabulousParticipantI drove by Tony’s today and noticed that his prices were really good. I’m going to have to start going there. Too bad the farmer’s market is only on Sundays.

JeraldParticipantIn my car I carry a list of all the farmer’s markets in the region, just in case I’m out and about. Monday is the only day that doesn’t have any. It’s fun to check out others.

JanSParticipantJerald, what a good idea. I keep meaning to go to the one in Wallingford on Wednesday’s..

flowerpetalMemberThe only reason I use Thriftway for produce is if I need something foo-foo such as watercress. For that I have been happy to have TWay there! Whenever I have bought produce, be it Tonys, Safeway or QFC, if its bad, I take it back with my receipt with no problems. I imagine Thriftway would behave similarly.
For good produce prices, try one of the Asain markets in White Center such as Samway, Heng Heng, or the market across the lot from the liquor store. Seven limes for a dollar is what first comes to my memory (that’s a lot of gin & tonics!) but generally all of their produce is less expensive.

idlerParticipantI shop at Morgan Thriftway regularly. The customer service there is the best in WS. In the past if I have produce spoil or mold quickly I simply get another one on my next trip in and when checking out I tell the checker and she gives me no charge on replacement produce. No hassle and very accommodating. Last week while shopping for items to make an appetizer dish I was looking for 12oz. of goat cheese. They only had 4oz packages which made for an expensive way to buy it. When the cheese gal told me they didn’t have larger sizes she gave me buy two get one free on the 4oz. Have only had very nice experiences with this store.
