while it’s not EXACTLY an abandoned vehicle, perhaps you could post a message through the parking enforcement website:

    http://www.seattle.gov/police/forms/Abandoned_Vehicles.htm

there is a drop-down menu on the form wherein you specify how long the vehicle has been at that site. i’ve been TOLD that the longer you report that it has been there (ie more than 3 months) the quicker the trike gets out there… just sayin’. it’s a bit of a manipulation of the site, but hey, sidewalk parkers suck.

Maybe we could look at this in a different light. Is the end goal here to get the person off of the sidewalk, or are you looking for satisfaction in seeing the person punished for being an idiot?

If you’re only concerned with them getting off of the sidewalk, then I’d say talking to them is going to get that accomplished faster than the multiple calls into parking enforcement (which has proven to do nothing so far). Even if it’s a a simple “Please do not park on the sidewalk. Besides having people in our neighborhood that need to use that walkway, it’s a violation and you (or your guests) can be fined” may work.

If you’re just looking for vengence and want to see that punk get nailed with a fine, then I suppose you can keep calling the parking folks.

i sent them a several page copy of this topic by mail last week… they now know what the issue is and how their neighbors feel about it…

maybe carson will let us know if there is still a problem…

The Jeep was still parked on the sidewalk yesterday at 6am. I called SPD again.

JoB, you might want to also send the owner of the property a copy! You can find out who owns property in Seattle at::

    http://web1.seattle.gov/mnm/

It not only will tell you who owns what and where they live but it will also tell other code violations. If you look you will notice they were in violation of ” Violation of Weeds & Vegetation- observed vegetation encroaching into side walks” and took a while for them to get into compliance. Again, this is a heavily traveled (foot traffic) area. I don’t think they trimmed their hedges or cut their lawn all last summer, so I am sure they will need another “suggestion” to be compliant this year as well.

All this from the guy who gave Hooper the high hard one about Admiral Way speed limits is a bit much.

You don’t have to bake them cookies, but at least confront them face to face. It seems like you have some social skills and are community-minded.

Hoff, the difference is I actually like Hooper, Hooper is an asset to the community, even if I disagree with him. I actually told Hooper exactly what he needs to do to get his hearing, but I don’t think thats what he is really after. If you want to confront them, please do so, you know where they live and you know how to find the owner. Man up and follow your own advice if you think its the right thing to do. Or woman up, if thats the case.

That’s exaclty what I did in my neighborhood when a neighbor parked an old RV in front of my house on a semi-permanent basis. We had a nice talk; they didn’t realize it was a problem and moved it when they understood the legal and personal issues at hand.

This is not in front of my house, but where I walk daily. To be honest, as I have stated, I don’t care about them, and from the evidence (parking on the sidewalk, condition of the house, upkeep of the yard, trash) they don’t care about anyone else. The owner doesn’t seem to care either. If you care, by all means. Its easier for me to call SPD.

    Carson…

i am not going to contact the homeowner for you to get action because i don’t have a problem with them parking their jeep on the sidewalk.

i think it’s really stupid and illegal and wrong.. but i live down by Westwood so it is unlikely to impact me.

if i lived in the neighborhood.. after notifying the tenants… i would definately send the owner a letter detailing the violations of his tenants…

as it is.. i have neighbor issues of my own to contend with.

i live next to a couple of houses that look abandoned.. one to the north and one directly across from the alley.. all lived in by their owners.

we are digging vegetable beds in the front and the homeowner to the north asked if we would dump the displaced weeds masquerading as sod in a hole in his front yard.

while doing so.. my husband was yelled at by the neighbor across the street because she assumed he was illegally dumping… the place looks that abandoned:( i wouldn’t want to live across the street from that house either.. downwind is bad enough because of his exceedingly healthy weeds and blackberries…

but there you go. both homeowners are dealing with significant health issues. I suppose that’s easier to excuse than youthful arrogance…

i have my hands full at home combating the migrating weeds and blackberries:(

    wanna trade neighbors?

i’d love to have your options.
