Go to this Dept of Transportation blog site and post it as a question (“how are closed sidewalks supposed to be signed and what do I do if they’re not”) They are incredible responsive on this site and you will for sure get an answer and the Dept will get a heads up about the issue.

I believe this falls under the jurisdiction of DPD (Department of Planning and Development). This sounds like a construction code violation. Their number is: 206-615-0808. Hours are: Mon,Tues,Thur,Fri 8:00-04:30. Wed 10:00-4:30. If you witness a potential code violation call them immediately and request an inspector. They are VERY responsive. Take pictures if you can. If this does not fall under their jurisdiction they can refer you.

so does that mean the mid-block crossing is closed too? can’t you cross back over to the east side of the street before you get to Alaska? the construction site is south of the mid block crossing I believe.

sam-c, approaching from the south (heading north) the access to the mid-block crossing is now inaccessible. I think it’s still open if approaching from the north side of the construction site, but I’m not sure if it’s been engulfed by the construction or not.

DPD says not their problem, call SDOT. Tried to post the question on the website, but it was rejected and wiped out. Frustrating. Hopefully someone from the Junction Association will see this post and have an “inside” connection…

So just call SDOT. The number is 684-7623. Explain the problem. I’ve found them to be very responsive.

Thanks, Diana, I will. Yesterday I just ran out of both time – and patience! I appreciate the suggestions, and hopefully others who are experiencing the blockade will report as well.
