kgdlgParticipantI literally cannot understand what the hold up at 35th and Avalon is. Now that they “supposedly” have a new GC in place, work seems to still be creeping along like molasses. Honestly, I would just like to see some sidewalks people. Please!? The developer is likely going to miss the window before all these other units come on in W Seattle. As a developer myself (albeit affordable not market) I just want to shake them and say “speed up!!!” It is a prime location next to the bus stop and now TJs and it just sits and sits and sits like an eyesore.
OK, end rant. Anyone have any insider intel?

JanSParticipantI have often wondered if this is someone’s weekend project…you know the kind that never really get done in 10 years? It’s not that big of a building. We’ve had whole complexes go up in the time it’s been there.

kgdlgParticipantit was a maestro property, so it was sold in bankruptcy to an eastside developer. then, i believe, the put minimal work in and flipped it to the owner now for a small profit. the news release at that time i saw said it was 70% done. unless it was built like crap (which is highly possible if maestro stopped paying GC bills midway through) getting the last 30% done over the summer is not unreasonable. i just don’t understand why they aren’t trying to hit the weather and lease-up window that exists right now. the market it tight!

QueMemberWell, as far as I can tell, that piece of property just has to be cursed. I have lived in West Seattle for 16 years and in that time a bazillion people have had plans to build on it and everyone of them has stalled out and gone bankrupt, and found problems that were insurmountable and left the project undone. If it is ever done and finished and rented out with businesses operating on the ground floor…..
Well, that will mean the endtimes are near.

WSBKeymasterSomebody who is not media, call the contractor and ask. Their info is all over the place. We have been asking them for an interview for months and they keep telling us they’re waiting for the owner’s approval. They’ll probably talk to “regular people.” Ethics codes bar us from calling and NOT identifying ourselves as media. But we’ve renewed our inquiry … TR
