SonomaParticipantGood video, PDieter. I don’t have a problem with sexy people, women AND men, in advertising. It’s just that there’s no subtlety anymore. It’s just crass. The sexuality is so blatant and (so to speak) in your face.
As for Wax On, I think it’s just kind of silly and not especially witty. And I assume, by the same logic, that a clean cock gets more chicks.

blblParticipantWhen you say words like “anymore”, you’re just saying you’re old.
December 7, 2013 at 10:35 am #801015
SonomaParticipantblbl, damn right, I’m all of 35! Now hand me my cane, sonny!
December 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm #801016
JustAGuyMemberI’m bothered that it’s fairly tacky, but in no other way. It certainly doesn’t “offend”.
December 7, 2013 at 5:35 pm #801017
JoBParticipantJustAGuy
it offends me…
the sexual innuendo offends me
the concept that women have to mutilate their bodies to attract male attention offends me
the fact that this particular mutilation is designed to mimic sexual acts with children offends me
and …
that other people don’t find that offensive offends me..
sorry

JanSParticipantwhat JoB said.
On a practical side, there are reasons we have pubic hair (substitute the word “waxing” for “shaving”…same difference)

December 7, 2013 at 6:13 pm #801019
PangolinPieParticipantWell, as Salman Rushdie said, no one has the right NOT to be offended. I think it’s funny and could start some interesting conversations — if your kid asks about it, maybe it’s a good time to discuss why shaving is the current trend and why they should not assume it’s necessarily the only option. And how everyone should feel free to do whatever they choose with their body, hairy, hairless or in between.
December 7, 2013 at 6:24 pm #801020
JanSParticipantand from a British point of view: (timeline was last month)..this is pretty funny actually…
December 7, 2013 at 6:31 pm #801021
sboneParticipantHow about all the men walking about town with shaved, pre-pubescent looking faces? Do these chiseled wood (bearing folk) get more beaver? Disclaimer: I shave mine for weddings & funerals.
December 7, 2013 at 6:36 pm #801022
JanSParticipantlove a beard…

Wolley SegapMemberFemale pubic hair performs at least three functions long rewarded by natural selection:
1) It catches the eye and directs the gaze of prospective mates;
2) It advertises that the female is of childbearing age;
3) It captures and wafts the sexual scent.
Now, there are no end to the number of sexual cues and attractants which have been trumped by the advance of our civilization. But the beast still lurks within each of us and it is not terribly difficult to keep oneself in touch with one’s limbic reflexes in spite of the values of fashion and society. I for one feel sorry for the men and boys who are swindled into missing out on the exquisite pleasures which Nature has painstakingly designed for us.

PangolinPieParticipantHere’s a shot I took of the sign earlier today, in case anyone was reading this and was curious. That’s some pretty small type, yep.
December 8, 2013 at 12:12 am #801025
JoBParticipantit is cutesy…
i will say that for it..
but wonder why you would want to advertise that particular service on the sidewalk…
December 8, 2013 at 12:18 am #801026
JoBParticipantjanS..
i just read your links..
naughty for sure
those unintended consequences are a real downer
December 8, 2013 at 12:19 am #801027
PangolinPieParticipantBased on their website (http://www.waxon.com/) it seems to be their main area of expertise. It also says that the W.S. location’s entrance is “cleverly hidden in the alley between California and 42nd” so I guess the sign is to attract business to a less noticeable location.
December 8, 2013 at 2:34 am #801028
carterParticipantYes, this particular forum is full of prudes. Or should I say Americans of a certain ilk.
December 8, 2013 at 3:21 am #801029
JanSParticipantcarter…I know I shouldn’t make assumptions, but…you’re a guy…of course it all appeals to you. :-[ Way to go thinking some of us are prudish…you don’t really know us very well, I’m thinking…
oh and exactly what “ilk” is that? please elucidate…
December 8, 2013 at 4:29 am #801030
JoBParticipantcarter..
one thing about old hippies
we are seldom what you call prudes
the old part means that we have a keen understanding of how little you would want to see our flesh displayed
and less desire to display it
but trust me.. we still like to look
and we still think sex is fun .. sigh … maybe not frequent..
but still .. fun
and that old hippie part ….
we are likely to prefer organic ;->
December 8, 2013 at 5:08 am #801031
trickycooljParticipantIf you go to their website they also provide Brazillians for men too. This isn’t all just a mitilation of women and mimicking the looks of prepubescents. Some people prefer no hair, short hair, long hair on their bodies just like many of us prefer short, long, or shaved hair on our heads. You want hairy legs awesome, not my cup of tea but they’re your legs. Maybe you’re a long distance cyclist avoiding chafe in your cycling shorts, maybe a competitive swimmer waxing your whole body, maybe you prefer the fuzzy look to add a layer in this bitter cold. I don’t care! You shouldn’t care. The important thing is that you do as YOU like, not for your significant or any other.
December 8, 2013 at 5:49 am #801032
JanSParticipantlol…I know they provide their services for men, too…but have you ever seen a guy get waxed – anywhere? It’s not pretty. Gives a whole new meaning to…wuss – lol…
December 8, 2013 at 5:56 am #801033
JustAGuyMemberJob:
Shaving / waxing the genitals is hardly mutilation. Women don’t have to do this to attract male attention. Have you considered that some guys may just not like a mouth full of hair when going down, and this doesn’t (necessarily) have anything to do with the prepubescent form? Being offended? I get it. Lame, but whatever. However, your assumptions lead you down the road to being “offended that others aren’t offended”, and that’s just being an ass. And finally, why the hell do you use so many ellipses? Really, this is the internet, and putting in random ellipses just makes it look like you’re sitting at a computer considering something. But then, to communicate that you’re thinking, you type “…”. And you do this over and over and over.

WalkerParticipantWon’t someone think of the children?!?!
And JOB is there anything that does not offend you? Or at the very least make you not want to comment in a stern manner to remind all of us that you, above all know the correct morale rights and wrongs. I mean really?!? Shaving the pubic region is mutilation and akin to child porn? Unclench already.
December 8, 2013 at 7:41 am #801036
JanSParticipantWalker…we all have opinions…even you….but please don’t get personal on us, going after one person. JoB is allowed to post her opinion without anyone having to get downright nasty about it…even you.
I don’t believe she said exactly what you accused her of.
And for you, and JusAGuy…I think y’all need to have your nether regions waxed and see how you like it. It is unpleasant, to say the least.
And just for you, Walker, please, please, please take Mike’s advice in post #47. You really do need to lighten up.
Remember…respond to the original topic, not cut down an individual poster.
I’m laughing at JustAGuy justalittle…20 years ago, he would have had that mouthful of hair when going down, as waxing/shaving wasn’t the norm then. It only existed in porn. Geez! If you don’t like the hair in your teeth then don’t do the deed…it’s that effing simple….or do you make all your women wax/shave? And we’re back at the beginning…this is way too hilarious!
December 8, 2013 at 7:42 am #801037
datamuseParticipantthe fact that this particular mutilation is designed to mimic sexual acts with children offends me
That’s debatable.
It’s certainly not the reason anyone I know has chosen to do it.
(Personally? Too much time, too expensive, I have other things to do.)
