My brother is making a quick stop-off here and I want to take him to lunch at a really nice place near the airport. Any ideas? Anyone know anything about the Copperleaf? Thanks

I love 13 Coins. Know nothing about any others.

It’s fun to sit at the counter at 13 Coins, right in front of the cooking area where things are getting sauteed and flamed up. Good salads, Liver& Onions. I like the Parmesan Chicken with spaghetti dish called “the believer”. You can ask for mushroom sauce instead of red, or even both, or on the side for your pasta! They bring out a nice anti-pasta plate and bread while you wait for your main. A Seattle institution open 24hours (at least downtown).

The nicest place by the airport is still a hidden gem: Copperleaf Grill at Cedarbrook Lodge. It is up behind the Red Lion. It is now a nice little hotel but used to be Washington Mutual’s training facility.

Well, I’ll happily un-second 13 Coins. I haven’t eaten at Copperleaf, but would much rather try it instead.

I’ve heard that Bai Tong Thai restaurant (15859 International Blvd.) is outstanding. The place where the Thai Airlines crews go to eat.

We tried out Copperleaf last year for our anniversary because we got a Groupon for it. One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food was outstanding, and the place was just beautiful. It is *not* inexpensive (we managed to spend another $75 over our Groupon) so I’d definitely call it a special occasion restaurant for us. But I would highly recommend it. Service is not the fastest, so I would make sure you have time to spend.

If Burien doesn’t seem to far away, I’d suggest Bistro Baffi. We’ve taken several friends there for dinner and have always had a wonderful meal.

I believe that Bai Tong Thai moved from International Blvd to Southcenter Pkwy near the Half Price Books.

Holy cow Que, they move that place about every two years, it seems. Hard to keep track of them, but worth it. Certainly FAR better than any of the mega-chain feed-lot restaurants that surround the mall.

    16876 Southcenter Pkwy. (206)575-3366.
