singularnameParticipantSo to be informative but also to get some thoughts …
Twoish years ago I had a prominent WS vet office tell me my cats needed pro tooth brushing, and this came accompanied with a $450 estimate for each cat. Well that wasn’t ever gonna happen. About a year after that, I made an acquaintance with a vet from another prominent WS office and she verified that estimate was in the ballpark.
This week I’m dumpin’ my two feline fiends at South Seattle Vet Hospital … for a $60 each tooth cleaning (same specs, including anesthesia). Yes–this comes from a coupon deal that landed on my doorstep (grateful to the temp post person who didn’t know “no mailbox = no thanks to mail”), so I can’t imagine their full price is terribly much higher.
So what gives? Are all the other vets smokin’ crack? Or do I just turn this post into a great big awesome RAVE! I know SSVH is excellent, given through endless persistence they saved my cat’s life last year.

mehud7ParticipantSomeone once compared South Seattle Vet to the emergency room at Harborview. You never know what you will find when you walk in the door. They are very kind to the rescue community and to others who love their pets but don’t have money to throw away. I have had many, many cat dentals performed at SSV and $60 for a teeth cleaning sounds a bit low, but that could be because of the additional savings of the coupon. If your cats need extractions, the price will be higher. They will probably also be sent home with antibiotics, also not included in the quote. Still South Seattle Vet is the place to go for reasonably priced walk-in care 7 days a week.

justduckyParticipantAs a former vet tech, $60 for a cat dental is a screaming deal.
Most dentals will run around $250+ for a cat/small dog. It DOES depend on where you go-AAHA certified clinics usually charge more, when you do price checking, make sure you ask what the dental includes: anesthesia (ask which kind, different types can drive the cost up), monitoring, etc.

hammerheadParticipantSame goes with s/n. Most vets charge up to 200-300 for cat spay, and neuter for 150.00
SSV is reasonable around 75-100 for a spay.
It can be done as little as 25.00 for spay and 15.00 for neuter.

singularnameParticipantAs follow-up after “the event,” a total RAVE for SSV. The final total for both cats was $200. The extra was for antibiotics (not optional) and for a topical anesthetic prior to them going under (optional). And then that also included my option to have full blood work done on my cat that had kidney issues last fall.
The fun moment was the vet tech calling me to the back because my female–the angelic sweetheart faced teeny one but who can whoop the poo outta her bully 20-pound brother–wouldn’t allow them to pick her up. I walked back there to see her holding off six vets and techs in a circle like something out of Gladiator. It was nice she had no qualm about me swooping her up and taking her out.
The woman who runs the front desk (and probably the whole place if truth be told) is phenomenal. The place is packed with people, and yes they have to wait for a bit, but she multitasks like a traffic controller on steroids. She is. That! Good!
