Knitten_KittenMemberI’m looking for the “prettiest” area of Alki Beach. I’m supposed to be taking engagement pictures of my sister and her fiancee tomorrow, but I have no idea where to take her! After living here for six months, I’ve only been down to Alki once, and that was in dreary March weather.
Also I suppose it doesn’t necessarily have to be Alki, but anywhere nearby, or near the Admiral District would work quite nicely too.
Thanks!

FranciParticipantThe sky has been so pretty and colorful as it nears sunset – beautiful sky with the Olympics in the background?? Or if you want a background of trees or shrubs Lincoln Park would be a good bet too.

inactiveMemberLincoln Park isn’t exactly Alki, but it is definitely a nice backdrop. Also, Constellation Park might be nice. Another spectacular vantage point might be Seacrest, with the city in view.
Get out and have an adventure looking around your amazing neighborhood! Discover your own favorite places!!!!! There are plenty pretty places here. Cannot miss ’em once you find them!!

hollyplaceParticipantI would check out Hamilton Viewpoint park, it is up above Alki. If you follow California all the way to the North on the way to the beach, you will see the viewpoint on your right. http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?id=454

EmmyJaneParticipantWe did our engagement pictures at Constellation Park and also an area a little bit north of Salty’s. At Constellation Park you get pure beach and water background, whereas near Salty’s you get the city in the background. I’d skip out on Alki Beach all together.
There’s also a park at the very north end of California as you head down the hill that has a great view- we are going to take wedding pics there.
You might also want to try Schmitz park.

LeroniusmonkfishMemberEmmyJane – The park at the north end of California is Hamilton Park…great location if you want a beautiful shot of the Seattle skyline, Elliott Bay, etc.

EmmyJaneParticipantLeronius- Thanks!
I’ve always wondered if that’s the park where the Allstar Auto Glass people filmed that talking rock flying through the air commercial with the awesome city view. It definitely looks like it was filmed in W. Seattle, but I can’t tell from exactly where if anyone has insight.

west seattle golferMemberIf you are willing to head out of west seattle (heresy, I know!), Kerry Park on Queen Anne has some of the best views of Seattle IMO, even better than Hamilton or Seacrest.
Some pictures from there : http://images.google.com/images?q=kerry%20park%20queen%20anne%20seattle&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi

WSBKeymasterDepends on whether they are more the type of couple who would want to have a city skyline or water in the background, or whether they are flexible … If the latter, I would go into Schmitz Park, groves of huge trees, just downhill from the Admiral District. Beautiful greenery. Dappled light depending on tomorrow’s weather.

CaitParticipantAWESOME idea – I’ve always been a fan of Jack Block park (north of Salty’s) – there’s a great high spot on a hill where you can see the whole beach. The park itself is a bit industrial, but it has good spots. I saw a couple getting their wedding pictures by the Anchor Park this weekend too, which looked pretty! (TOTAL kudos to the bride by the way for the gorgeous bridesmaid dress choices. They were purple with white bows! Pretty enough to catch my eye as we were driving by!)

Knitten_KittenMemberThanks everyone! I think I have some exploring around to do tomorrow before they get here :)

mrhinehMemberIs Constellation Park across from LaRustica?
If you are interested in a water/Olympic Mtn view on flat, level ground where you can spread out equipment, a little further south from LaRustica about 1/2 mile on Beach Drive and just north of SW Oregon Street, is a concrete boardwalk built out onto the beach that is faily good size (could seat 50+ people; we had thought about a party/wedding there). It is directly across from a city park and I don’t know the name of the “spot” or park, but google maps will help show you. It’s a great, quiet setting with fantastic views on clear days, the mtn’s will jump out at you as will the ferries. Great natural setting.

LeroniusmonkfishMemberOr locale…how about a trip on the Water Taxi? That would give you endless photo possibilities…and a really enjoyable time for all.

GAnativeParticipantHow about around the Alki Lighthouse? I think it’s open in the summer for tours but I don’t know the hours.
