HomerParticipantWow, haven’t seen it this bad for a VERY long time. I can even see re-bar for the bridge itself through some of these potholes! Almost have a view of the streets below! Reported this to the pothole rangers but seems like a bigger job than them…but boy does my car wish they’d be fixed!

JanSParticipantHomer…which one is the “land bridge”?
June 30, 2011 at 8:14 pm #728011
HomerParticipantNot the bridge that goes over the water inlet but the elevated structure that goes over 1st ave, etc. Right the part right when you get off of I-5 essentially.

Robert2715ParticipantI wonder if after the new lanes are opened up they have plans to resurface the current road.

shed22ParticipantI could do without MORE roadwork in that stretch, especially with the current traffic conditions. Unless it’s a clear and present danger, requiring immediate attention, we should minimize the amount of closures on the bridge/viaduct/freeway.
Keep traffic moving, West Seattle!!

metrognomeParticipantSome of y’all might want to read the articles TR and her folks work soooo hard to provide. You might even consider checking the project-related info on the govt agency websites your tax dollars are paying for. If you had followed the link TR provided in post 4, you would have found this link, that explains the project (timing is related to the need to provide more options BEFORE the actual viaduct replacement project begins) and notes that “… the existing upper roadway deck will be repaved …”. It also mentions the upcoming closures in July will be from 11PM to 5AM:

TR, you have my sympathies as well as my admiration for all you do to keep up informed.

redblackParticipantonce the new spokane street viaduct is open, all traffic will shift to it while the old road is resurfaced.
i have noticed this, though: WSDOT (AWV) is making SDOT (SSV) look like fools when it comes to road building. maybe SDOT should ask someone from WSDOT to come over and show them how it’s done… ahead of schedule.
