This just came across my Facebook news feed, Pizza Hut is donating 50% of their profits today (4/2) and tomorrow (4/3) to the Red Cross relief efforts in Oso.

Pizza Hut isn’t really my go-to and I know there are mixed feelings on the Red Cross, but figured I’d pass it along if anyone’s interested and looking for dinner ideas!

And Papa Johns just one upped Pizza Hut:

Tomorrow 4/3, not 50% but ALL Papa Johns profits from sales will go to #530slide victim’s families. #helposo pic.twitter.com/AaUNvE48Fe

From what I see they are donating to the Salvation Army.

So they’re pocketing 50% of the profits? Well that’s big of them. Way to make money off a horrible tragedy. If our small, local businesses can donate 100% of their profits to the OSO victims, then I don’t see why a corporation like Pizza Hut with $5.5 billion in annual US sales can’t do the same. Or better yet, maybe skip the pizza tonight and give 100% of the money directly to charity.

    My thoughts exactly, cjboffoli.

Plus, Pizza Hut or Papa John’s pizza sucks. And CJB has it right. Pizza is pretty profitable. So an $8 pizza probably has $2.50 of ingredients. Net $5.50, but throw in $2.50 of overhead, $3. Divide by 2 = $1.50. Or consider giving $8 to those serving food to the crews. That would be better.

Wowwww. I guess I’ll think twice before I pass on potentially useful information next time. Figured it was worth pointing out after all the awesome support last weekend in our community.

Oh and FYI the links came from one if my best friends who grew up in Darrington who’s family is still there. But hey what do they know right?

Well I checked and there are no pizza places in Darrington–I was gonna suggest ordering local but that’s probably why they suggested other sources. So we don’t know it all TrickycoolJ. :-)
