schwaggyParticipantSince there won’t be as many buses on the roads, maybe we can have them back? They seem poorly thought out anyway.

elikapekaParticipantNot a chance – they’ll convert them to bike lanes.
I’m kidding, everybody! Just a little levity, please no flaming torches! :-)

wakefloodParticipantI’m wondering when we’ll figure out scooter trains so we can have scooter train lanes!

skeeterParticipantCity council just approved Bike Plan yesterday (4/14.) Lots of improvements coming to West Seattle. It’s over a long term timeline (20 years or something.)

Alki WarriorParticipantI actually have sent in a new proposal to get ziplines strung all the way down California Ave as another form of transportation.

seaopgalParticipantI like the bus lanes. They will be even more important with fewer buses to keep the overloaded C-Line on a decent schedule. Each time a bus passes you in the lane, just be grateful it means 40+ fewer cars on the road …

schwaggyParticipantThere’s soooo few buses (and fewer if this passes), it’s just these wide-open lanes 80% of the day. Put cars in ’em! Maybe structure the hours of use and enforce that? Bus Lane only during peak hours would be awesome.

seaopgalParticipantschwaggy, bus lanes exist to encourage people to take the bus, all day, every day, not just during peak hours. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, congestion isn’t restricted to a certain time of day anymore.
The eastbound WS bridge lane has been great not only for buses but also to help alleviate the jam up in the merge from Delridge and Admiral, as the buses are able to get up the hill and out of the way faster. Cars using that lane would still have to merge on the other side of the bridge, just causing more congestion. Same issue with the Alaskan Way Viaduct lane. The fact that egress from the bridge and viaduct at either end is restricted is the real problem. The westbound Alaska lanes are a pain for drivers, I agree, but critical to the C-Line, and there are plenty of alternate routes for cars.
Anyway, it’s all moot … since Prop 1 is going to pass : )
