Was anyone approached by one or two African American young men, asking for donations to a non-profit that fights police brutality today? I was waiting for my ride at the corner of 42nd Ave SW and Admiral Way, and a black, 2-door Mercedes stopped at the red light, on 42nd heading north. The passenger asks me if I know what police brutality is, first he mumbles, then he repeats it and I said yes. He jumps out the car with a tan attache case, opens it to show handwritten email addresses on a notepad of people he said support his non-profit that fights police brutality and that he was one of the people attacked by Tougaloo Police Officers. He asked me for support for his non-profit, it has the word “Free” in the name. I said I can’t give any support and he waddled across the street to Metropolitan Market. He was wearing a yellow, velour jump suit … A very odd encounter to start a Saturday morning. Interestingly, SPD made a right onto 42nd Ave SW from Admiral, almost immediately after the encounter.
