valvashonParticipantIf your child is registered to go to Arbor Heights but you know they are not going there, please call the School District Office and let them know that your child will not be attending! The district doesn’t assume that your child is not attending until they have been absent for the first eight (8) days! There is currently a waiting list and kids are enrolled that don’t plan to attend. Please withdraw your child’s name if they are for sure not attending Arbor Heights this year (especially for first grade!) Thanks.

BonnieParticipantA post similiar to this was posted a month or two ago. I have friends who have tried to take their names off the list but still find themselves registered! Some people have tried but find the SPS isn’t being very speedy on their side! Good luck and hopefully you’ll get in to AH and we can be across the hall from you. (Mom to 2nd grader)

SpeakLoudMemberOh, what do you know?-I’m not the only one…..good luck valvashon, you won’t find that many people here care about the 3,000 of us on a waiting list.

mom2boysParticipantI care! I’m very frustrated too! Were supposedly number 1 on the list for Alki…oh yeah just. like. last. year.
I hope it works out for you.

SpeakLoudMemberIt IS frustrating especially in situations such as ours-closer to our ‘choice’ school than our designated ‘neigborhood’ school…..it’s infuriating. People who live closer to the school should have priority-it only make sense and saves SPS $$$$$.

DBurnsParticipantVal – When I read the original post here about removing your kids from the list I called right away and did so. However, I am still receiving emails, bus info, mail and all other info regarding Chief Sealth. Last week I actually got a call from his 9th grade Counselor! I contacted the Registrar at Sealth and she emailed me back and I think we have it settled now. I just hope I get a calendar in the mail before they remove me from SPS completely! Anyway, my point is, it’s never cut and dried – I would recommend people calling the actual school. I think it’s truly the best way to let them know. Good luck!

swParticipantDBurns: if I read your post correctly, did you call and give up a seat at Chief Sealth? Was that for a 9th grade slot?
We are currently #1 on the Sealth wait list for 9th grade – would be happy to know that we might have a shot. Thanks.

DBurnsParticipantYes, it was for a 9th grade slot. Last week or the week prior is when I spoke to them in person, and then my follow up communication was with the Registrar via email. Good luck!
