    Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all;

    Additionally,

    a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2012, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regard to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishes.

    (Disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.)

    I am offended by the font used in this post. What is wrong with Courier or Arial or Times New Roman?

    fascinating, but the historical figure who may or may not have existed and who may or may not have been known as Jesus who may or may not have been the son of god who may or may not exist in any of the forms defined by numerous, often conflicting, christian religions, would have been born in the spring according to scholars of the bible which may or may not be accurate based on being passed down by oral tradition in at least three different languages and not being written down for several centuries and which clearly includes chapters that don’t belong and is missing a significant number of chapters.

    Happy Winter Solstice. May your days grow longer until Summer Solstice.

    mpento,

    I believe the term you are looking for is:

    Chanukwanzaachristmasolsistivus!

    Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Solstice, Festivus (for the rest of us)

    Or, it were earlier in the year you should really add in Dewali and Eid so:

    Chanukwandewaleidchristmasolstivus!

    And “Happy” is a better alternative to “Merry” because you get the whole alliteration thing going on….

    Much joy to all!

    P.S. Recognizing that non-Christians exist is not an attack on Christmas. All of these amazing celebrations happen around the same time. Don’t get mad, get joyful that our world contains so many different kinds of people!

    “Chanukwandewaleidchristmasolstivus!”

    Even though it is hard to say the word I like it! We are such a potpourri of religions and cultures we should to embrace them all..I still say Merry Christmas as that is my tradition even though I am not a Christian in any traditional sense.:)

    After seeing all the corporate greed and commercialism surrounding Christmas get worse and worse for years we ought to leave December to celebrate the solstice again and Santa and money as apparently spending and getting gifts is really the true meaning of the holiday and celebrate Jesus’ birth at a time he may actually have been born…around April to June I believe is speculated. I truly think he would be appalled and embarrassed at what happens in his name this time of year.So much commercialism. So much money changing.

    Happily to you all I say Merry Happy Holiday of your choice and a very Merry Christmas as well!
