miwsParticipantYeah, Chucktown!
No matter what, Miranda, I’m sure that your loyal following will follow.
I’m sure whatever the Wong’s decide, it will not have come about in haste, and that they will have sincerely struggled to come to their final decision.
I wish both you and the Wong’s well.
You’ve both been hard working contributors to the community.

datamuseParticipantI live in Highland Park, so if you come to Delridge I’ll be over even MORE often!

KatherineLParticipantMiranda, Either place would be easier for me to get to. But I’d LOVE to have you take over the Charlestown. I’ve worried ever since they left about what would go in there.

LisaMParticipantomg, Charlestown would be PERFECT! The size of the restaurant and all that parking – go for it!!

celeste17ParticipantMiranda-
I will follow you to the end of the earth. As long as I can find a parking spot I will be there. :)

JanSParticipantI’m with Celeste…coming no matter where you are…
September 7, 2012 at 2:25 am #766765
GinaParticipantI’d rather see you nearer to Admiral, but Delridge would probably be a better move.

johnnyblegsMemberCome to Charlestown please!

The Velvet BulldogParticipantSo long as you’re in West Seattle (or nearby) your Westside Groupies will follow.

JanSParticipantDear Ms. Meanders…comparable rent at Charlestown? I realize that “if you build it, they will come”…but…it’s sooo big…and such a prime spot…we don’t want you to extend yourself too much…
September 7, 2012 at 5:31 am #766769
meanderMemberCharlestown is quite pricey, but not entirely off the table. I worry about biting off more than we can chew, though, and feel that the intimacy of our restaurant is part of what makes it what it is. I wouldn’t want to get so big that we lost that entirely. I like being able to look folks in the eye when I make their food. :)
It’s incredibly cheering to feel so much support and feedback, though; thank you!

dhgParticipantI vote for Charlestown. I know it involves a set of management skills you have not yet exercised but I think you are up for it. Surround yourself with talented people and you cannot fail! The population density is only getting greater and your blend of homemade, natural, organic, know-the-farmer fits in exactly with WS values. You will be brilliant!
September 7, 2012 at 6:14 am #766771
celeste17ParticipantHow much bigger id the delridge spot compared to what you have now? Can you still cook out in the open like you do now? I worry about the Charlestown spot due to having to remodel and you would loose the charm of having you guys cook out in the open.
September 7, 2012 at 6:32 am #766772
JanSParticipantif you went to the Charlestown, wonder if they’d let you “remodel” a little :D…so it’s not so…Denny-like…
September 7, 2012 at 2:14 pm #766773
kgdlgParticipantMiranda, I would go anywhere but I think the charlestown is too large for you. I want you to keep your small and homey feel and there, it is more like an IHOP. Plus, del ridge needs someone like you who wants to create community – they don’t have enough businesses like you over there! Also have you thought about white center?
September 7, 2012 at 4:17 pm #766774
rockergirlMemberI would make sure you research the background/business practices/ownership issues on both locations and make sure it is suitable and inline with your business philosophy. You have worked hard to build your reputation in the community and have started a great little venture. While Delridge is an attractive option the space your considering may not have enough parking and have other issues involved. Good luck on continuing your wonderful adventure and much continued success to you!
September 7, 2012 at 4:53 pm #766775
SemeleParticipantAnother vote Delridge! That would be within walking distance for me so I would be able to come more often! Keep us updated!

B-squaredParticipantMiranda- I hope you can stay where you are – our end of California seems a little light on quality establishments (at least for my taste). But Charlestown is an excellent idea. I was just going past there the other day and was annoyed that the cafe was not still in operation there. What a waste – and now it sits idle. Stupid. If you could get in there, is it possible that you could share the space with another small business, like a newstand or art gallery co-op?
September 7, 2012 at 5:21 pm #766777
JanSParticipantand then there’s the idea of bookstore…part restaurant, part bookstore. With a little bit of work, Charlestown could be a charming location. The side rooms are just that..and could be utilized differently than they are now…and the parking…the parking ! Oh, and it’s closer to me :)
September 7, 2012 at 6:15 pm #766778
KimberleyParticipantI’ll follow you wherever you go, as long as you can make my sherry eggs (so sad to see them gone from the menu – I swear I almost cried).
September 7, 2012 at 6:21 pm #766779
2 Much WhineParticipantThe Alki Homestead would be really awesome but, sadly, probably not very practical or affordable.
