Would anyone be interested in boarding a small parrot July 1 through July 18? My friend Judy is going out of town, and she is looking for a place for her parrot (a dusky-headed conure named Popka) to stay. You would have to be familiar with parrots and like being around them, and not have any cats around. Judy would deliver Popka and his cage and food, and she’d pick him up on July 18.

I can’t board Popka myself, but I would want to stop by occasionally, since he knows me.

Interested? Please email me at aroth111@gmail.com or just post your response on this blog. Include your rate and other details.

    Thank you!

Jeannie – just a thought for your friend to consider. It is dangerous to board birds with other birds because of infections and diseases. They pass them to each other very easily. So ask your friend to be cautious about boarding with other birds. You also might want to have her contact Denise’s Parrot Place on Mercer Island – they are wonderful and offer boarding as well.

Thank you! I agree there is some risk. I am familiar with Denise’s, too. And they are good people. By the way, I buy Harrison’s pellets for my parrot. I used to get them at Denise’s, but now Next to Nature in the Junction carries them – and for a few dollars less. Saves on gas money, too!
