I’ve noticed that people who posts on these forums tend to only consider sources that uphold their beliefs..how do you feel about it?

    Interesting article here:

i appreciated this article.. though i confess i didn’t watch the video.. i often don’t.

    what resonated with me..

and i admit, what was not actually said in this article..

is the way the media tends to label political views with a few hot button issues that fill their viewers with scorn for the other side…

inflammatory rhetoric has become such a problem that it is nearly impossible to identify… because any argument at all has now been labeled as inflammatory.

As a people, we no longer seem to see the difference between debate and brawl…

As a result, we seem to think that people have to talk to us the way we want to be talked to with the terms we want to hear

without realizing that the terms we want to hear define the conversation the way we want to hear it…

and thereby remove any benefit from conversing.

if you never actually hear the other point of view

you have no basis upon which to evaluate your own.

    i wish we concentrated

    less on making a point

and more on exploring the subject

    less on beliefs

    and more on outcome

    when we look at outcome

we are all closer to agreement than we think

    until those belief issues intrude
