Was listening and heard they needed assistance at SW College and Walker. We “investigated” and sure enough. A l’il fight…..they hauled off the perp.

Sounds like the fire is pretty much over. They’re letting it ‘burn itself out’. Hopefully the rain helped with that. ;-)

Hi all, WSB *was* the first to report on this fire – at least in brief – I posted via Twitter not long after midnight

If we are out and about, that’s where we post first because it’s easy to do from the iPhone. Wasn’t a West Seattle story, but I tweet a lot about non-WS stories that we stumble onto … our latest Twitter post is always in the turquoise box in the sidebar, and you can scroll through preceding ones with the little arrow in the box.

nonetheless, after getting a couple notes about the fire in the past hour, I called the Fire Department to get the info they had (what we saw while out wasn’t enough to hang a story on, it was just clear it was a Big Fire and some traffic diversion was happening) so here’s what I put up a while ago.

I try to keep an eye on the forum very often since breaking news sometimes turns up here, but that still isn’t as fast as e-mail.

Just got another update from SFD media … fire was under control at 2:30 am. No word on a cause, investigators have not yet been able to go in and start their work. City Light has sent a news release to say that they had to turn off power to the area because of the fire, and 419 “customers” are currently without power (in case you know anyone with a business in the area, they might be affected).
