Any recommendations for reliable internet service so that I can finally tell Comcast to bite me? :)

LOL…I just posted the same thing before I saw your post! If you find an alternative, please share!

fering, sadly I’m not getting any good alternatives so far, here nor on my Facebook page where I posted the same thing. That’s what makes them so frustrating – they’re a monopoly and know they can do (and charge) whatever they’d like.

(And before anybody accuses me of ranting on Comcast, I have taken my concerns to their management and short of cancelling, there’s not much recourse.)

    Sue,

Unfortunately there are no good alternatives. Our building on the edge of white center has no DSL internet options (comcast and century link don’t serve it and will not). We luckily have a good neighborhood business who has agreed to share their internet via a disc on our roof that we installed but it is still Comcast. Because of this we did extensive research into other options. There are some good options through independent companies if you are willing to pay between $200-400/month and are in the right area of the city (we were not). Let me know if you are interested in something in that price range and I can pass on what we found. Otherwise the only other option is Satellite or 4G which is metered (pay for what you use) and much worse than Comcast.

So so looking forward to someday having google fiber or something similar!

    Sue,

    .

Sorry to say, but I have to agree with Lena. Comcast is really the only game in town (at this time) if you are looking for speed and reliability.

My advice… just pay up and enjoy the ride. It’s only going to be another year or two before some alternative comes along and pops their bubble :)

    .

My wife and I have Comcast Business Class for phone and internet. Not cheap… but quite fast and very reliable.

Perhaps you could double up and share (wifi) with someone in your office complex, or at home?
