Does anyone know what happened to Iggy? I was talking with someone from the area who knew exactly where he’d lived and who his people were….but I haven’t heard an update on his fate.

Charla – did you report his “people” to Animal Control so they can pursue a cruelty case against them for letting him loose?

Mel, I didn’t explain very well–*I* don’t know his people — I met some folks last week who thought *they* did. Frankly, I have a feeling lots of people do (high density area) and how many people have an iguana lying around the house? Maybe T will get news of the culprit, when she finds out how he’s doing. :-)

Don didn’t call me back – if I don’t hear from him tomorrow, I’ll call the second-in-command at SAS. I believe it was discussed in the original thread(s), by the way, that it wasn’t illegal to let the iguana go. I’ll double-confirm that, but it’s my recollection.

Thanks TR for checking – I’m really surprised in this climate that letting a reptile go wouldn’t be considered cruelty.

Don just called back … I’ll put this into a home-page post at some point tonight but at the moment am trying to finish the overdue Weekend Lineup. The iguana’s going into a foster home. They would never put a critter like this down at SAS. There IS an “abandonment” clause in city code but Don says it deals more with “leaving a pet without food and water for a prolonged time” and wouldn’t really apply well to a situation like this where someone released a critter that technically might have been able to fend for itself. Interesting. — TR

Thanks, TR — I suspect the katskys would object, or I’d definitely volunteer to foster him.
