miwsParticipantThis, (with WSB embosseded on it), would have to be sold among the T-shirts, ball caps, mugs, “What’s that helicopter doing flying over West Seattle?” T-shirts…..
I didn’t actually purchase it as a stress ball.
My hands have been cramping, occasionally lately, and I also just want to build up a little more strength in them.
But, boy, howdy! do I ever find myself using it as a stress ball, more and more, while reading and participating in the political threads here on the Forums!

Rod ClarkMemberMike, if you don’t know for sure why your muscles are cramping, it could be because of a temporary shortage of electrolytes, especially salt. You might try dissolving 1/4 or 3/8 teaspoon of table salt in a glass of water and drinking it. If that’s the problem, it should help relieve the cramping in your hand within a few minutes.

miwsParticipantThanks, Rod.
I’m on a sodium restricted diet, and though I can’t always accurately monitor my intake, I don’t add salt to anything.
Maybe I’m being too restrictive. :-)

Rod ClarkMemberMike, 1/4 teaspoon of salt contains 575 mg of sodium. “Low sodium” diets seem to start at something around 1 teaspoon (2300 mg of sodium) per day or only slightly more, and go down from there to 1500 mg or so. You can compare 1/4 tsp to the recommended total amount in your diet. You might try 1/8 tsp (288 mg) at a time, and see whether that helps a little. If it’s only faint cramping, maybe that would be enough to relieve it.
There’s an interesting opinion piece about dietary salt levels by Gary Taubes, a science writer, in the NY Times a few weeks ago. We Only Think We Know the Truth About Salt

miwsParticipantThanks again, Rod.
Although I can go several days without any cramping, and on occasion it is faint, there’s been several times where it’s pretty bad.
On a funny side note; historically, I’ve only been able to do the “Spock sign”
with my right hand.
To do it with my left, I need to force two of my fingers into place, with the right hand, and hold them there.
On at least a couple of recent occasions, the cramping in my left hand resulted in it doing the Spock sign automatically.
