JoBParticipantLOL… i totally missed the tags….
bunnypugs… thanks for pointing them out ..
i think i am going out for some fresh air… all that rain ought to have made it sparkle:)

CaitParticipantVINCENT! Pooping in sammiches… you’re cracking me UP! I think this was the test of sense of humor on the blog. Thanks to those who passed. Those who did not… try to go out and enjoy the semi-nice weather we’re having today. And why not pet a doggie while you’re at it. :)

AnonymousInactiveThis thread is a classic bait and switch and I resent the fact that dogs got dragged into this conversation. If we’re going to hate cats, then let’s hate cats and leave dogs out of it because they’re clearly the better domesticated mammal.

Dog Free ParksMemberLuigiPasta: That’s what happens when a dog avatar is used to start a post about hating cats… uh… no bait and switch. All bait!
Oh, and I guess certain posters here are so damn psychic, they know my sex… who knew I was a man. Wait a minute… oh. my. god. Vincent, how did you know?
Man, Vincent, get over your condescending crap. Or is that your dog typing?

AnonymousInactiveDoug Flea Perk: Point taken. I guess I was snarked by a master baiter. In an effort to rectify the situation I have enabled images in my broswer but I’m taking the performance hit on this 100Mhz proc and 32MB RAM. This site doesn’t look all that great with IE 3.0 either….

Dog Free ParksMemberHi Luigilinguinizucchinimariachisopasta… wow, that was a mouthful. I love your sense of humor and your comebacks! Honest! Awesome…
However, I don’t think you get it when it comes to the difference between the words “need” and “want.” Clearly, Vincent is being about as condescending as he/she (I don’t want to make assumptions, like he/she did about my sex… I guess only guys complain about rude dogs…)
At any rate the term “do you *need* a hug” is way different than the question “do you want a hug” and it is clearly condescending in any knowledgeable person’s mind — to need a hug is to imply that your are some kind of shriveled up, unfun kind of person… get a life, Vincent.
So, in other words, pastaperson, the real issues don’t count — it is all personal to Vincent.
As for being older than you — another assumption. What is your guess about retirement age? Geez, people, think before you type.
As for pre-scoop laws days? Hey, check out the dog population explosion, okay. Even if every dog that showed up in a small park back in the days pooped and wasn’t scooped, it would have been less than what isn’t scooped now under the law. You apparently have no sense of how the dog population has exploded up in the last ten years and how entitled the “new breed” of dog owners appear to be…
As for a dog who licks his butt clean and then kisses you — who said the dog’s mouth is cleaner than a human’s… uh, just on a scientific note, dog feces contain 29 times the amount of coliform bacteria as an equal amount of human feces and are a significant contaminant of certain rivers and Puget Sound.
I won’t lump them all dog owners together… but really, most of the even self-declared law-abiding dog owners on this blog are still not getting the message about how to respect those who do not chose to live in your doggie heaven… it is called mutual respect.
I have respect for those who have respect for me. And, there ain’t much of that going around for those of us who ask for just an equal share of dog free park land — equal to the land devoted to off-leash parks.
Wow, that is asking so much?

EmmyJaneParticipantDog Free Parks: “Even if every dog that showed up in a small park back in the days pooped and wasn’t scooped, it would have been less than what isn’t scooped now under the law.”
Just curious if you have scientific research to back this up. I envision large mounds of “back in the days” poop next to large mounds of “what isn’t scooped now under law” poop next to large weight scales next to you recording notes. Do you do this research in your back yard, because I’d like to come supervise these experiments so we can be sure your claims are valid.
Whether you want or need it, here is a *hug*

beachdrivegirlParticipantOn that note-when will your reseach be published?

AnonymousInactiveDog Free Planks – I like you. Let’s grab a PBR over at the Tug sometime. Maybe we should just snag a keg and head to Lowman with a box of crickets.
As a digital age non-journalist blogsquatter, I have to make assumptions based on very little information or else the conversation wouldn’t get lively. So, I apologize for any unreasonable assumptions I made. For all I actually know, you retired at a very young age because you are both brilliant and wealthy.
Disregard the research / scientific evidence requirement. I like you just the way you are.
Lets be friends. No hug required.

JoBParticipantdog free parks…
every beach in seattle is a dog free park.
how much shoreline do you need?
would annexing burien help?
March 18, 2009 at 9:27 pm #660818
AnonymousInactiveHi JoB. Allow me to interject in the absence of my new found friend and comrade.
Dog Free Parks just wants a place where s/he can go and see heroins. DFP is retired and enjoys the finer things in life, as long as they don’t include dogs.
I don’t blame him or her!

rs261Membermythbusters did a dog mouth vs human mouth comparison…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MythBusters_episodes:_Season_3#Five-second_Rule
I dont think they did a feces comparison though.
March 19, 2009 at 1:36 am #660820
JoBParticipantLuigilinguini…
ah that explains it.. i have never known a dog to do heroins…
rs261.. i remember that episode. maybe it depends on the dog.. and whether or not they find poo tasty?
March 19, 2009 at 3:07 am #660821
melissaParticipantLuigilinguini,
You add such dry, subtle wit to the sometimes vituperative histrionics here. I love you. Purely platonically, of course.

AnonymousInactiveSorry for the belated reply on this topic, I was living in a van down by the river and forgot to check back.
Ok so first, JoB – sorry about the “heroins” comment I meant to type “herons”. Totally different thing and wow, I hope DFP didn’t catch that because I in no way meant to imply s/he is a junkie. “Only dopes use dope”.
And now my dear new platonic love, Melissa. You bring me such incredible joy, there aren’t enough words in the dictionary.com to describe…although I did have to goto dictionary.com to decipher what “vitupretaive histrionics” means because to be honest I thought you were referring to the device used to measure my thetan level.

Dog Free ParksMemberHi All: Heroins? Herons? So many animals, so little time. As for JoB’s comment about having all the shoreline… nope.
That’s was covered much earlier — the lawbreakers are so numerous, there is no such thing as a dog free shoreline. They walk right past huge signs that say $500 fine for dogs on the beach, and, they never get ticketed… there is no enforcement and apparently, law-abiding dog owners don’t enforce things either. They expect us non-dog owners to do it for them? So, that is why I have talked about “Abuse it, You Lose it.” Why should adults be treated any differently than children when they break the law repeatedly. I am sure most of you parents have guidelines with your children regarding restrictions based on infractions… I guess many dog owners just want to be brats.
At any rate, a correction is also needed. I said something about dog feces containing 29 times more coliform than human feces… I was wrong. Must have been a “senior moment.” Here’s the official word “These are typical numbers of fecal coliform bacteria per gram of wet feces: dog=23 million, human 13 million, pig 3.3 million, cow a quarter million.”
So, I guess that means, cows would be better pets for the health of the Puget Sound… imagine that one…. Well, then there is the volume thing…

miwsParticipantI appreciate the poop contaminant quotient data and your logic, DFP.
But, it seems to me that it would be udderly ridiculous to see people walking their cows through our parks and beaches.
I dunno, though, perhaps with time, and it becoming a more common sight, my opinion might change.

grrParticipantcan we get back to hating cats now?
I only hate the one that keeps screwing up my car. The rest are ok…for dinner.
:)
March 21, 2009 at 5:07 am #660827
JoBParticipantDogfreeparks…
dogs can’t read… and so many of them are walking humans who don’t seem to be able to read either… so they head right out onto the beaches.. which are clearly marked.
i am not sure how putting up more signs in parks would help.
but there are parks with signs in them banning dogs.. my pups are itching to mark them.
alas.. i read.

HMC RichParticipantIf puppy dogs and pussy cats can learn to live together, so can we. I have been guilty of letting our former basset off leash at Lowman Beach. I enjoyed watching her hurdle the logs. But, I was in the wrong and I will never let that dog off leash again ;-O
Honestly I trusted the dog more than the toddler down there. Maybe we should have doggie diapers. My little guy did his business more at the beach than the dog did. Either way, I had to clean up.
Pets have some rights at the parks but if the dogs aren’t supposed to be there, then I guess we should follow the laws. Maybe we do need more doggy beach parks, but if we get more of those, cats might feel discriminated against and want kitty parks with lots of sand. Good thing most of the beaches here are rock covered instead of having sand. Cats can’t cover up their mess with large rocks as well.
There is one solution. Buy a house on the beach or buy a house with enough land to make it your park. I personally don’t have the money right now.
Our cat gang is pretty riled up. Don’t come here and start trouble. They gang up on trespassers just like tag team wrestlers. Their claws are like switchblades. They should be registered as lethal weapons. Beware. You have been warned.
